Question about ADHD med.

Don't be too concerned. He probably just needs a small bump up on the medication, kids grow and bodies adjust.

usually when starting a new med, there is a trial run while the body adjusts to the sudden influx of medication. You usually then have to bump up to the next level and then wait to see if that runs out or not, until you reach the appropriate dosage.

My oldest never moved beyond the first dosages (worked fine but then brought out anxiety) and he's now on Intuniv (2nd dosage). My youngest we needed to bump his focalin up within 2-3 weeks of starting (and probably need a booster dosage as well)

My youngest was put on Focalin XR (10mg) and it worked for a little while. Then we added 5mg of ritalin at 4pm. Then we had to add 5mg of ritalin at 12:30 to get him thru school. Now he is up to 20mg of focalin in the morning, 10 mg of ritalin at 12:30 and 5mg at 4pm to get us thru until about 7pm. I am happy with the dosing we are on now except the fact that he doesn't eat anything until between the hours of 4-9pm at which time he is absolutely ravenous.
