Question about adding hopper to 1 day base pass

My family is going to HHN at Universal this fall. We decided to add on 2 nights at WDW to attend MNSSHP. We'll only go to MNSSHP on the 1st night. We plan on going to HS the 2nd day. I now see that Epcot will also have EMH hours the night we go to HS. I plan on only buying a 1 day base pass. If we decide that we're up to going to Epcot for the rest of the evening, when do I have to purchase the hopper option, before we enter HS or can we leave HS and go to the ticket counter and add the hopper option before going over to Epcot?

You have to do it at guest services, which is in the park. But I believe they will walk you over to add the hopper.

You can upgrade to the Hopper option even after exiting the first park.
It can be done at any ticket booth or Guest Relations.

I've never heard of being "walked over to" add any ticket upgrades.

Regardless, it is a simple matter to do the upgrade, either inside the first park (at Guest Relations) or outside the first park after you exit it (at Guest Relations or ticket booth there), or outside the second park (at Guest Relations or ticket booth there) when you arrive at its gates.
