Question about AAA rate with Loews number

I'm not sure why this is happening but when checking rates online for RPR for Oct 1-3/05, I get an AAA rate for $179 (without adding my Loews number in) but when I try the AAA rate and also add my Loews member number in, the rate goes up to $224!
Why is that? Can you not book at the AAA rate if you're a Loews member?

make your ressie on line then call the hotel and ask them to add your loews number to it. AAA is still considered an eligible rate to count for your stays on your loews card. They will upgrade you over the phone if upgrades are available. --do this if you are loews blue or gold--

If your platinum loews I would see if you could get the rates over the phone that you want then see if you can get a free suite upgrade. I have seen reports of loews platinum getting free upgrades to suites even with discounted rates.

The same thing happened to me when I tried to book a AAA discount online. I figured it was because I was now a Loews Gold. I never had the problem when I was Blue. I called the reservation line and got my room (with the upgrade) and the AAA discount but the reservation agent wasn't able to explain why I wasn't able to do it online.

The same thing happened to me when posting a APH code. It has to some flaw in the programming.

I'm a blue member and couldn't get the AAA price with my Loews number either. I finally made the reservation without the Loews number. After it was confirmed I called and put my Loews number on the reservation.

When I've checked the AAA code seems to be cheaper only for the club rooms while the fan club is cheaper for the standard rooms. I am only a Loew's blue member so that never seems to help me much.
