Question about AAA discount?

Can I just call Disney Reservations for a AAA discount or do I have to go through AAA? If I do book the AAA discount can I change it to an AP discount if they become available? Also, if I change resorts will I lose my deposit or will it just transfer over to the new resort without penalty? Thanks.

You can call Disney if you want a room only AAA discount reservation. If you want the AAA package, you will have to book through AAA.

If you are getting a package from AAA (unless you know your local AAA travel agent really well), make sure they give you all the information you need for your trip (dining info if you are doing the dining plan, resort information). I won't complain too much, but our experience with AAA was less than stellar. We got what we wanted, but the AAA agent was not very informed at all (misquoted several things) and didn't offer us a dining brochure or hotel information. Thank goodness most of the important information is posted on Disney's website. They do offer a very nice discount on packages!

I started with a AAA room only discount and then went with the AP rate. The AAA room only deposit is completely refundable ---I think within a few days of your trip. But you can't just transfer the deposit. I don't know the specifics for a package from them.
