Question about a Sci-Fi walkup..

I think I already know the answer to this, but I figure I would ask anyway. Here is the story, we are going to Disney Oct. 1st-10th and staying at POP century. There are 14 of us! I made all my ressies on the 180 day mark and had everything we wanted. About a week or so after that my sister says that she and her family (5 people) aren't going to be doing Hollywood studios. So I call Disney and change it to 9. I wanted to give another family a chance for a table. Well, we leave in 16 days and my sister emails me a few days ago and says they are doing all days with us now!! I have tried for days now to secure a lunch for five at sci-fi around our time of 12:35 and their is nothing available til' 3:55!! My question is, if we all walk up around 12:35 what is the likelihood that they will have an available table of 5? After checking the website there are openings for at least 10 at every other Hollywood studios restaurant, but I really have no desire to eat at those places. I was really excited for this experience for the kids! Any advice is appreciated! TIA!!

It is always worth a try. The concern here is not only is it free dining time, which packs the restaurants, but you are eating during the lunch rush. The restaurant will probably be packed!

Walk-ups get into restaurants though and they do so by asking.

Thanks! I figure we will walk up about 45 minutes before our reservation and even if they have to wait, atleast they will get in around the same time as us. Fingers crossed! I hate not being 100% prepared though! Right now I am just debating on if I should just go with 50's prime time and have a secure reservation for all of us, book the 5 top one a little later and just split up who eats earlier, or just skip a TS meal in HS all together and eat somewhere else for dinner. Anyone have any good experiences with a party this large at any HS TS places?!

I actually ate at 50's Prime Time with a party of 12. It was no problem. They pushed tables together and it worked out great. Except I kept getting yelled at for putting my elbows on the table.

Just my opinion, but when eating with a large group you want to talk, laugh, and have fun! Sci-Fi is not very good for that. The place is quiet and obviously you won't all be sitting together. So you really aren't eating together.

Personally I prefer PT to Sci Fi, but I do love the ambience at the drive in and it is something everyone should check out at some point.

Thank you for your advice!! You have been very helpful! Maybe I will just go ahead and book PT. That way I won't have to worry about walking up, or having to split our party up. Plus we are a little bit of a loud bunch, so I wouldn't want to disturb anyone either! Thanks again!

Also how were you guys seated?! I've been looking at pictures and the tables look small?! Do they just split everyone up?! That's okay if so! Just curious!
