question about 1 time points

If the room is not available and I'm at the 7 month mark can I purchase the points I need and waitlist the night in question? Also, if I book a room elsewhere in the interim just to have something and the room I want becomes available, am I allowed to cancel the initial reservation if it was made partially with one time points?

It is my understanding that you must use the one time purchase points. You cannot just have them available, but you can book something with them, wait list and have them applied if when wait list comes through, and the night they were used for becomes cancelled.

As mentioned, you can only purchase them as part of making a reservation. So, if you need them to make the back up night, then you will be able to purchase them as well as put in a waitlist for that same night.

The wait list will work the same way as if you hadn't purchased the points..if it comes through, they will simply change it out for you.

What you are not allowed to do is purchase points to be placed in your account to fill a wait list. Now, if you book a night, purchase the points and that night gets canceled, my understanding is that the one time use points will go back in your account, but will expire at the end of that UY.
