So we are only going to have 2 days at DLR. We will be heading to DL on a Tuesday and don't have access to MM. I was thinking about doing Breakfast at the Plaza first. the park opens at 9, MM at 8 and I have a breakfast for 8:10.

What time do you think we would be done eating?
The lady said that the park usually opens to non MM guests earlier than 9, is that true?

I would rather be in the park than breakfast, but I thought maybe since we can't do MM, we could still do some Disney magic in the morning.

The park usually opens to non-MM guests about 30 minutes earlier, but only Main Street. Non-MM guests won't be allowed to ride any rides or enter other areas of the park. Non-MM guests can line up alone Main St. while guests that have a MM use the sidewalk, which is cordoned off, the enter the park to ride the rides. You could rush breakfast and get 10-15 minutes park time in before the rest of the public, but I personally wouldn't want to pay so much for a character breakfast if you were just going to rush it. I know some on here do it, however, as it is a good way to get ahead of the rope-drop crowds. Guess it's up to you how much money those 15 minutes of time would be worth to you :)

It's a great idea, a great breakfast too.

It will take about 45 minutes, but it really depends on how much time you spend visiting the characters and how much eating.

You may only get 5 or 10 minutes of the MM, while that can help if you go strait to get a ST FP, it won't let you get a bunch of rides in.

The regular guests won't be let in before 9am unless it's for a rope drop. So you will be ahead of a lot of people.

Thanks.

My intent isn't necessarily to get ahead of people with MM. We don't have MM, and wasn't trying to "beat the system". I was wondering if non MM people get in earlier than 9 to go ride the rides, the reservation lady said they do. I don't want to miss being able to hit the rides if we are still sitting down for breakfast. So it seems like we could get some Disney magic, and still be ready to hit the ground running at 9. Sound about right then?

I wouldn't worry. Again, if the CM you spoke to said "Guests are allowed in the park before 9", then she was correct, as Ski and I explained, they are just allowed to stand on Main Street. Rest assured that they are not let into the ride areas prior to 9:00 AM. That would make a lot of people that did have MM privileges very unhappy.

I think your plan is a great plan. I wish I could remember how long it took us for breakfast. We're a family of 6 that can eat pretty fast but with the characters, it takes us much longer because there were so many characters we hardly got to eat lol

Doing M&F during MM is a great plan and I always try to take 'advantage' of it whenever I can. And I don't mean trying to sneak in before other people either, lol. It's just nice to feel like you're not wasting an hour away. I'll be doing this again in September :woohoo:

I may miss understand the OP but if he does not have a MM how will he get in the park for the reservation @ 8:10 if the park does not open until 9?

The M&F character meal is 'separate' from MM and you don't actually have to have MM access to make a reservation for this meal during the MM hour. You even go through a separate gate that for the morning is specifically designated for this meal.

Thanks I did not know that. I am hoping to get a reservation on New Years eve for Breakfast.

This is my plan for our trip in November. I have always wanted to do the Minnie breakfast at the Plaza but I don't like to give up prime morning touring time. Since we won't have MM this trip I won't be missing any touring time as long as we can get the first available seating time.

thanks everyone! sounds like a great plan then. I am really looking forward to this trip, the kids are going to be so surprised!

oh, one more question, what characters would you say are at the Plaza Inn?

Oh, and another!;) When the announcement comes on to welcome you to the park, If you are a non MM guest waiting at the turnstiles as we will be to get to the breakfast, can you hear the announcement?

In March we saw: Captain Hook (hilarious!), Br'er Fox, Chip, Dale, Fairy Godmother (lovely!), Geppetto (sweet!), Minnie Mouse, Rafiki... and I want to say one or two more, but I can't remember. It was awesome! And the food was great!

Also, ALL the CM's were recommending the make your own omelets, and especially the french toast! They were right! Amazing! And if you want chocolate croissants, they go fast! :)

We'll be there Monday, and I can't wait!!!

We did this once, had a 7:10 ressie on a MM day. We took our time eating and had lots of character interaction and walked out of the plaza inn just a few minutes before eight. There wasn't anyone holding us back til the clock chimed eight. But I can't imagine anyone finishing much faster than that, so I'm sure its a non issue. It was just nice to not have to stand in the long turnstile line for opening.

Just my 2cents, I love this breakfast, saw 10 characters in 1 hour both times we went. So if seeing characters is important, this is a great time saver and a good way to start your morning with full tummies. I love the create your own omelet bar and my kids devour the mickey waffles....ok, ok, I do too.

Ok, I am so excited now about this. thanks everyone! It is going to be so much nicer to do this than wait in line.
