I know it's only been opened for a few days but I just HAVE to see if someone has had the queso fundido yet! This was my FAVORITE and only menu item I liked at San Angel Inn and was so disappointed when we ate there a few years ago and I saw it was taken off the menu.

I'm wondering, first of all, if anyone's had it at La Hacienda and if it's good. AND if anyone remembers the queso fundido at San Angel Inn, how does this compare? I'm hoping it's the same! :thumbsup2

Thanks!

Reports from the press event were that the Queso Fundido was very good. It will take some time to see if the every day experience is consistent.

Something I am looking forward to as well. My favorite at San Angel in the past and we haven't eaten there since they took it off.

I can't compare it to what San Angel Inn had but I enjoyed it at La Hacienda.
Melted manchego cheese in a small skillet type dish with shredded poblano chilies and chorizo sprinkled on top, served with 3 small flour tortillas.

Thanks so much for the description!

Hmm, it was definitely in a skillet but I seem to remember the chorizo on the botton with melted cheese on the top. I don't remember there being peppers. Was the chorizo spicy? I feel like the "chorizo" was more like taco meat.

The last time I had it was 2003 but I feel like I remember it so clearly!

So glad someone else remembers it from San Angel! What do you think about the description of it from redzinner, compared to my description? Do you remember it differently?

That was my favorite item at San Angel, as well. I, too, am hoping that it will be similar at La Hacienda!

That dish was my absolute favorite at San Angel Inn. I was soooo disappointed when they removed it from the menu. I even asked if they would make it special, and they said no :guilty:

I am so excited that La Hacienda has it!!!!! :dance3:
I cannot wait for our next trip, so I can order it again. :cloud9:

I think I asked them to make it once too! Maybe they put it on the menu because so many people asked about it at San Angel Inn.

Hope we hear from someone who's had both and can tell us if it's similar!
