Query about entrance bag checks

Hi, all

I've read a few times about bags being checked on entry to DLP. Does this mean that each and every person gets their bag looked through before they get into the magic? This must take forever! We're staying in the DLH so will we be able to bypass the bag check?

Thanks! x

Depending on how you are arriving you should avoid the bag check by staying at DLH unless you are coming in by Eurostar & not have Disney Express.

You will have to go through bag check if you go into the Village & when you come back to the DLH from here.

They have scanners that bags can go through. It doesn't take too long really.

Yep, it's a nice bonus to staying at the DLH - no bag check!! You will have to do it when/if you come back from the Disney Village though.

It shouldn't take too long though, as most of the checkers don't seem to be particularly thorough. Not sure what it achieves really. :confused3

It depends how busy it is.
Last Saturday (9th) it took me an hour to get from the shuttle bus through security. It was absolutely packed. They even had three entrances open for bag checks (the main one, one to the right of the main one, and the wds one). We got of the bus at about 11:15 and we joined the queue to go through security and we weren't out the other side until 12:10!!

We had planned to go to salon Mickey that day and because of the queuing we missed it :(

Goodness me, what a palaver! Laura, how annoying to have an hour of your day wasted like that.

So would we miss bag check if we went from Disney Village back into the hotel, then out to DLP from the hotel? Or are my sneaky thoughts of no use?? :rotfl:

The bag check area is between the Disney Village and the entrance to the DLH. So you will have to go through bag check/security if you come from the Village (or the train station) to your hotel. Theres no bag check from your hotel into either of the parks.

Weekends are generally crazy busy compared to midweek days. People queue for everything on weekends.

the queues for park opening were quite long and frustrating last week. i had one security guy who was very very particular and i had to empty my wifes bag out almost completley, nappies, wipes, food and drinks etc etc.....the other times we went through security and they just had a quick look inside your bag with a small torch. after 5 days there it did get on my nerves a tad but one day we did see someone stopped who had a breadknife in their bag!?! why i dont know?

so does that mean that if we stay at a hotel near the lake and decide to walk through the village and into the parks then we would have to go through the bag check every time? kind of annoying if its the case, we are staying at the sequoia lodge and plan on getting to and from the parks this way as opposed to the shuttle as getting our disabled son on the bus with his wheelchair would be a nightmare.

Yes every time you enter the park you go through bag check, this is the case even if you use the shuttle too as they stop near the entrance to the village.

As your son has a wheelchair you can request a special minibus transfer to the park. This will deliver you to the disabled car park and although you will still have to go through a bag check there, there will be no queue. Just ask at the reception of your hotel and to return, at City Hall. :goodvibes

Thanks for that, never knew about it and have heard horror stories about scrums on the shuttles. We have only ever stayed at the DLH before so this time its a bit different for us at SL as we need to factor in getting to and from the parks!!
