By the time we woke in the morning, Graham had already left for his golf session. Breakfast and getting ready was a more leisurely affair than normal and we ate in the apartment before heading out to the pool. There were very few people around so grabbing sun loungers was easy, we got one each and left our towels and pool bags on them. I tried to sunbathe but it was too hot and boring so I soon found myself doing some lengths in the pool with Roger. Scott sat beside the pool refusing to come in and Linda chilled out with a magazine on her sun lounger (seriously not a water person.) Eventually we convinced Scott to come into the pool with us. Of course, being a bloke, he couldn’t enter the pool in the way most people who can’t swim and don’t like water do, gradually down the steps, oh no, he had to jump in. The splash was impressive; as was volume of the shouting; “it’s cold!” Well it will be if you jump in! We spent the remainder of the morning doing a variety of poolside activities. We went out onto the boardwalk to watch the fish, sat on the lakeside beach watching people doing water sports on Crooked Lake and relaxed in the hot tub.

We decided to head of to the Florida Mall for the afternoon, leaving Linda behind to wait for Graham as she didn’t feel like shopping. We showered and re-applied suntan lotion before driving down and almost being killed by a big scary black man driving a Hummer far too fast for a car park. The food court impressed me by size alone and I spent a good 15 minutes wandering along looking at all the different food available as I’d never heard of most places there. We all decided upon Chick-Fil-A, the chicken was OK but the waffle fries were amazing. After lunch I and Scott decided to share some calorie filled concoction from Dairy Queen which seemed to involve chocolate in every format possible. From memory it contained; vanilla ice cream, 2 brownies, crushed Oreos, chocolate sauce and chocolate bits. Even together we couldn’t finish it and Roger just looked horrified by it (most of his desserts were fruit.)

After dinner we did our best to walk off some of the calories by wandering around the Mall. We were amused but worried by the Hummer aftershave we found in a department store and we had a look around several clothes shops but couldn’t find anything we liked. I had a look in the Hot Topic shop (Goth, punk stuff for Teens) and Scott spotted a few things he liked and eventually bought in a subsequent trip (a Stormtooper helmet “skull” and crossbones t-shirt and a leather Gryffindor wallet.) We also liked a party shop that was filled with Halloween stuff. It was amazing seeing the variety available and brought it home to us how seriously Americans take the holiday compared to us. After we had finished our shopping we headed back to Summer Bay via Golden Corral and found Graham and Linda in the apartment. We sat around the living room for the remainder of the evening watching TV and discussing our day. We decided that we would return to Disney the next day in the form of EPCOT and we all headed off to bed feeling a little more energized from our day of relaxing.

Just what was needed, a nice relaxing day. Gotta love those Florida shops. Great report,

Claire xx

Like the sound of the chocolate dessert thing. May have to add DQ to my list of places to go for pudding :sunny:
