Quality of Housekeeping?

We just got back from three great days at VB, and seven at VWL.

I will post more info on the trip within the next day or two, but I wanted to get some feedback on lodgekeeping first. I am looking for feedback on the quality of cleaning you have received both upon arrival, and when you requested extra full cleanings (primarily VWL, but info on all DVC's would be great).

I am not a complainer, and don't want to over blow my issues with lodgekeeping, but at the same time I can not dismiss the poor performance in this area.

Your responses will help me figure out if this is a recurring problem, or perhaps we just had a below average housekeeper.

Without getting into specifics, the supervisory housekeeper and WL guest services were very attentive to the problems, but more were noticed on the morning of check-out. I did not not get a chance to bring these up to proper people. There were so many issues that I feel I would be doing a disservice to everyone by not reporting this to the higher up.

Thanx, and more room info to follow soon.

PS- Please do not take this as a slam on VWL. This could happen at any resort. Almost every other aspect of VWL was perfect...it truly is a beautiful resort.

We haven't stayed at VWL since last December. The one bedroom unit that we had was impeccably clean.

Sorry you had bad luck with Mousekeeping.

We stayed at VWL in August (First trip 'home'!), and mousekeeping did a wonderful job for us. The room was immaculate upon checkin, even with a couple Disney touches that made it extra special.

Our Trash and Towel day arrived, and towels were replaced, along with more Washing Machine detergent, dishwasher soap, coffee, etc. They even made the bed for us! (we had zipped out early that morning!) I think the savvy mousekeepers do the extras, because I left a bigger tip (almost double) for VWL as I did for the so-so service at BCV.

BCV wasn't bad, but they did nothing above and beyond, and we had to empty a full dishwasher when we arrived and call down for a few items not in the room (no handtowels in kitchen or the bathrooms). Not my idea of a perfect start to vacation! At least the dishes were clean - I just assumed the previous guest left a bunch of dirty dishes for housekeeping.

Not everyone does the same quality work, and if you received 'bad' service, Disney can only help correct the problem if they know about it. I'd let them know.

We always load the dirty dishes into the dishwasher and leave them. I heard housekeeping automatically puts all the dishes into the dishwasher and runs it to be sure they are clean, so there is no sense running it before you leave. Anyone know if this is true?

They do not do all the dishes at check out. They do the ones that are dirty only. We always load and run the dishes, figure it makes it that much easier for the housekeeping and allows another member to get in a tiny bit faster.

The first thing I do upon arrival in a 1-bedrm is run any dishes I know I'll use thru the dishwasher. I'm not a germ freak, but I don't take chances with my health. JMO

As for housekeeping, I think problems can crop up at any resort. Last year, I was at the BWV for almost a month. Depending on whether or not I had guests visiting, I would change rooms (studio for myself, 1-bedrm when guests arrived.) I changed a total of 4 times during this month, and I had housekeeping problems 3 out of 4 times. The first episode--I got into my room at 5:30, after the manager--who works behind the front desk-- went up and actually helped clean. Housekeeping would not answer his calls. The second and third episodes were just small things--filty bedspread, pink liquid in coffeemaker, previous tenants' garbage left behind, dirty ashtray in non-smoking room. For my fourth try, I had an immaculate room. They had even cleaned the carpets. I was also upgraded from a standard to a waterview room.
In the past, I had a problem at the WL (not villas). The room was just plain dirty-soap scum, those little hairs in the shower (gross!). etc.
Two years ago at OKW I had a nasty 1-bedrm covered in chocolate cake--floors, windows, walls. Housekeeping had to come back and do what they did not do the first time.
My point is: any resort can have housekeeping problems. We just have to let them know and hopefully, they'll resolve the situation. (Sorry this is so long.)
