Quality Control at the Hershey Chocolate Factory

Okay, I've vented about this before here and it's really just a "fun" vent, but here goes.

I think quality control at the Hershey factory has slipped BIG TIME.

At first, it was the M&Ms. I would sit at work and notice that they weren't perfectly round anymore, or that the "M&M" stamp was off center, or missing altoghether.

Then, I just bought two bags of candy the other day: Some new Hershey's Dark Chocolate Kisses and some Rolo's. No lie, I have had to throw out half the bag of both candies.

Most of the kisses aren't wrapped up well, there is exposed chocolate all over the place. Now, I pretty particular about this. When I unwrap them they are dented and scratched. Not the "perfect" kisses of days gone by.

And the Rolos. I used to love these. Now the caramel is kind of gritty. These all seem to be wrapped, but there are "holes" in the bottom of some and on the side. Blech.

What's going on with this world!

Yes--I'm probably OCD, but when chocolate isn't wrapped well, it gets all this white residue on it and doesn't taste good. I just don't understand why some of the kisses are wrapped like I expect, and some of the wrappers either have big gaps with the chocolater exposed, or the whole top of the "kiss" is protruding. Must have been a ROUGH RIDE from the Hershey plant to my Target.

Yes, Big Dude (above) corrected me on that. I, of all people, should have remembered that. My DS (who is allergic to peanuts) can eat most of the Hershey products but he cannot eat M&Ms as the Mars factory doesn't do seperate production lines.

I hate it when the Hershey Kisses aren't wrapped well. The foil always seems to be tearing these days.

DH loves going to the Hershey factory in Smyth Falls, Ontario to get the sub-standard chocolate. I'm still finding underweight Oh Henry bars in my kitchen pantry!

The M&M dude use to work with Milt Hershey(I think they were partners) but was a quality freek he would go buy m&M's at a store and find the ones that were off center and take them to that department and make them redo the entire line set-up.

As for the unwrapped kisses I just fell in love with the new KISSABLES' boy did they just steal M&M's idea or what .But I have to admit they are better then M&M's

I think I will. I just happened to be at Target and they had two bags for $4. I had never tried the Dark Chocolate Kisses and I *used* to love Rolos (I'm a caramel freak). But NO MORE HERSHEY'S for me.

I would call the number and complain. I always heard white-ish chocolate is old.

Well, only the kisses that have "bad wrapping" have the whitish look to them. The ones that are wrapped well look perfect when you unwrap them. Dark and kind of shiny with no white on them.
