Quality Bean Bag Chair

I was thinking about getting my DD11 a bean bag chair for her room for Christmas, but I'd like to get a good quality one. I've heard nightmare stories about cheap bean bag chairs and filling spilling out so I'm willing to spend a little more for a better bag. Does anyone have any experience or recommendations? Thank you for any help you can give.

We have several beanbags from Ahh Prods in several different fabrics. They are pricey but they are extremely tough and come in all kinds of beautiful fabrics. They have survived a lot of rough treatment from my children and look good as new even after a few washings (the cover easily zips off for machine washing). After a couple of years the filling gets flat and needs to be replenished but that will happen with any beanbag. We love these and they would make a very nice, though expensive, gift.

LoveSac or FomBag. Both very good quality. We have one of the 3 person ones from FomBag. It's GIANT. It fits two large adults and our 32 lb dog.

Pottery Barn Kids. We bought one for each of our girls several years ago. The cover zips right off for easy washing. They've held up very well.

We have both a LoveSac and an Ultimate Sack. I'd say the quality is comparable, but neither is an inexpensive choice.

We bought the Ultimate Sack when they were running a special that included a free footstool. I didn't even want the footstool and asked for a cheaper price instead, but they said no. Now I'm glad they did. Love the footstool and highly recommend getting one with the beanbag chair if you can.

The fact that they are manufactured in the USA was a big selling point for me, and I like supporting family owned and operated businesses.

Of course it didn't hurt that their prices were much less than LoveSac. We inherited our LoveSac from a friend and I had no idea how expensive the darn thing was until I went to price another one. Yowza!

a beanbag was on my DD8 Christmas list this year. I ordered from Lands End. Right now you can order one item for 40% off. I ordered the denim cover reg. $69 and got it shipped for $44 (free shipping applies to total before discount so it qualified for Free Shipping). I then placed another order using my husbands email and cc info, I got the insert for $44 shipped (reg $69 as well). So for $88 we got a decent bean bag. Our neighbor has several of the Lands end bean bags and they are great !!

DD7 wants one for Chirstmas too - I found one and ordered it from www.rods.com and I LOVE IT!!!! OMG its soft - like polar Fleece material and just to die for - awesome quality! It wasnt cheep but it was so worth it!!!! I cant wait to give it to her!!!!! I want one for me now!!!!

When I saw this thread I thought...that's a good question & a good gift idea for one of my kids. But some of these prices... I get it though...a little more now so you aren't having to replace it later. But still...wow!

One other idea I had, has anyone ordered one of these expensive bean bags new off of that oh, so popular auction website? Maybe that would be a way to save a few bucks?

I don't know about e-bay, I imagine shipping costs could potentially kill any deal you might be able to find there.

If you're not opposed to going used, you might try craigslist though. It seems there are always plenty of bean bag type chairs listed in my area.

I did ALOT of research before buying my teen sons a bean bag chair.....after having 2 / not cheap ones either from Jysk split on me and spill beans everywhere , I wanted a very good quality one....I bought them the large one last yr. for Christmas, it is GREAT, very well made and 2 of them can fit on it!! lots and lots of options.....I think I may end up buying my younger son (15) a lime green one, he loves bright colours....then they can each have their own! I would like to buy some more stuffing for them too....that would poof them up some more, but for what it came with, it's been fine up to now...
