I booked several months ago about a trip coming up with 11, all adult prices. I couldn't decide whether to get the QSP or pay out of pocket. I have budgeted $25 per person, per day while in the parks + I am spending out of my pocket for non-park meals. However, the best airfare deal now requires purchasing more food. We already told the group we would get them mugs as souv. Also, we will have ice cream one day in the park (so will have Casey's one day with water instead of sodas for lunch). That being said, with the mugs, the $25 a day, donuts for breakfast we will be spending $997. I still need to cover pizza the night we get there and breakfast and lunch and a late snack the day we leave. $60 in pizza at BW pizza window and $82 for sandwiches from Beach Club + more for the afternoon snack. Sooooo....I determined I will be spending roughly $1140. The plan is $1540. I personally have to pay the difference between $1140 and $825 (don't ask why, I am nice I guess :). So to avoid the hassle of making sure I always have enough money on hand or not order what I want to stay under budget, should I just get the DDP? The kids could then get desserts and a snack each day, and I won't have to worry about it. With the plan, it would cover the pizza the night we get there, the sandwiches the day we leave, and muffins each morning. The places we have picked to eat are: Pizzafari, Electric Umbrella, La Cantina, Casey's Corner, Beach Club CS (name?), Pecos Bill, Refreshment Port (ice cream), Boardwalk Bakery (i will probably change this for something more than sandwiches). I am not worried about the extra expense, but don't want to lose money. What would you do?

QSDP can be tricky to make it come out ahead, as it has the slimmest of margins of all the plans. It would also be roughly $110 more per night than you're budgeting for now (I know you said you're not worried about that, but it's something to think of).

However, for a mixed group of people, it may be decent. They'd have the freedom of picking what they want without worrying about going over budget and that may certainly be worth it. It would also help smooth out any "curves" in the pricing of the meals (e.g. one meal ends up being ~$20 leaving them with $5 for the other, vs balancing the two meals to insure they can eat decently twice). It would also cover the mug cost, which for 11 people isn't that small (~$165 if the mugs are $15 each).

If it were me, and I wanted to alleviate some stress, I'd go for it. I'd also be sure to get a printout each night of my spent credits, since they will be pooled per room. You don't want Bobby going and blowing the room's credit allotments on the first two days!

For the pizza, you may also want to check out some other local pizza joints that deliver, you may be able to get better pizza, for cheaper, than using the BW pizza window (I don't know, I just hear people rave about certain places down there).

And pfft, your post wasn't long! You should see some of the novels I write in this little box!

How can both of those be true? Are you using the snack for muffins or is this an additional OOP expense? You only get 1 snack pp on the QSDP.

If you do decide to go with the QSDP, I'd tell the participants that the plan is all you are paying for. If they want/need more food, it is at their extra expense.

sharonabe - good catch!!! I would use the snack for the muffins or pasty at BW Bakery.

I guess I will go with QSP, it will probably be easier. I might still order pizza offsite and then we will have an extra meal.

Thanks
