We have always gotten the regular dining plan and had 1 sit down a day, now we are considering the QSDP for free has anyone who has used it been bored with the food? Do you miss the sit down? Its about $300 more if we upgrade to moderate....

and just to clarify...I am not even sure if we are booking a trip :lmao: but I got a pin and now I cant get a disney trip off my mind...you know the feelign right????

Not all CS have the same food. Check the menus, you will find some with variety.

Children's meals, however, are pretty standard so you will want to check those too.

We prefer the QSDP over the regular DDP as we don't want to sit down that much when we are there.

We had a lot of different types of food last year and found that we ate well. We were able to use snack credits and fruit from one of our meals (we got that instead of another dessert) for breakfast so I didn't have to spend anything extra OOP for food the whole week, except when I bought a case of water for the room and bought us all smoothies one really really hot afternoon that were not covered on the plan.

I think there are some great counter service meals to be had at Disney! Go over the menus before you leave, and have a list of what sounds good, and where to get it. That way, when you are in the park, you know what your "favorites" are, and don't have to just settle with what is closest at meal time. I have almost as much fun picking out likely CS meal places as I do for TS meals!

(Don't forget to write down likely snack places too! On the QS plan, you'll get 2 of them per day... Make them count! I've GOT to try the Jarlsburg an Leek cheese soup at epcot...)

We just used the QSDP for 9 nights. Here's some of the many things we ate during our trip (the ones I remember off the top of my head, some were ordered more than once because they were so good), all on the QSDP.

Mediterranean chicken flatbread
greek salad
chili cheese dog w/ chili cheese fries
beef & broccoli
loaded nachos
chicken parmesan w/ salad
chicken alfredo
chicken caesar salad
personal pizza
chicken fingers w/ fries
turkey balsamic
cheesesteak wrap w/ fries
double cheeseburger w/ chili cheese fries
vegetable lasagna w/ salad
fried chicken meal
meatloaf meal
shrimp lo mein
roasted red pepper turkey ciabiatta sandwich
fish & chips
fried shrimp
roasted half chicken meal
seared tuna steak salad
chicken curry

We did the QSDP for 8 nights/9 days in January. We didn't get bored with the food, but towards the end we did get a little tired of the 'fast food experience.' Ordering at the counter, finding a table, busing your table, etc. But I think we were just tired of eating out in general. Overall we were really happy with the QS plan, and we certainly had enough food and variety, and we would choose that plan again.

Yummy!!! sounds fabulous. Would you mind posting where you got the food from? Especially the pasta dishes. THanks.

Lets see, where did I get these. The majority we got at Pop Century (we eat many of our CS meals at our resort because they are so accomodating for our kids' food allergies; the meals listed above are regular meals, not allergy ones). The pasta dishes were all at Pop. It's always hard for us to upgrade to a nicer resort because we just love the food court at Pop. They have so many non-fast food types of meals (they do also have the standard fast food type fare if you want it).

The ones that we got outside of Pop Century are these.

Magic Kingdom: Columbia Harbour House
chicken fingers w/ fries (allergy safe meal)
fish & chips
fried shrimp

Epcot: Sunshine Seasons
roasted half chicken meal
seared tuna steak salad
mongolian beef (I forgot that one in the original list)

Hollywood Studios: ABC Commissary
chicken fingers w/ fries (allergy safe meal)
chicken curry

All around the World Showcase there are plenty of amazing options but with our allergy issues they're too difficult for us to try to get something safe. You can also use CS credits for turkey legs. We had planned to do that but ended up changing our plans and skipped it. There are also a few places where you can get chicken and rib combos for a CS credit (both at MK and AK). There really are so many options; we're just more limitted because of the allergies.

We are staying at All Star Sports during the free dining. We upgrade to Dining Plan that includes the Table Service + Counter Service, snack for $10/pp per day.

We've done both QS and the basic DDP. We enjoyed both of them. QS, for adults anyway, does NOT get boring - lots and lots of choices, which was my main concern with it. It also lets you eat whenever you feel like it and not at the ADR time which is very freeing in terms of doing what you want (if you catch a short line to Test Track, for instance). It is carrying your food around and searching for a table, which can be annoying, depending on where you are. It's really plenty of food.

The DDP is great too though. Guarantees you a break at some point each day, forces some amount of relaxation, someone else waits on you. You'll also try restaurants you may not have tried otherwise. You'll still have the OOP tip to pay.

DH and I are leaning toward doing DDP on our adults only trip and QSDP when we travel with our kids, at least for the next few years.

You can get QS pasta at :

Noodle Bowl at Sunshine Seasons at the Land in EPCOT
Couscous (type of small pasta) on the Platters at Tangeriene Cafe at Morocco in EPCOT

Grilled Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo or Veg. Baked Ziti at Port Royale Food Cort at the Carribean Beach Resort

Pasta with Basil cream sauce or marinara at the Contempo Cafe at the Contemporary Resort..dinner only

Captain Cooke's at the Poly has Asian Noodle Stir fry

Wolfgang Puck Express at the Marketplace of DTD has several selections of pasta for QS: tom. basil garlic spaghetti, chicken alfredo, mac and cheese (yummy), spaghetti and meatballs, pasta bolognese.
Westside location may or may not have the same selection.

Enjoy!

We are two adults so I can not speak for the children's options....but we prefer the QSDP. Plenty of food and we are not living by a meal schedule. In 2008 we did regular DDP at WL, 2009 did QSDP at POFQ and in 2010 regular DDP again at Pop. We find lots of CS options that we enjoy and never get sick of it - but we are pretty easy to please. We did pay OOP for two table service meals when we did the QSDP but that won't happen again...I think we underestimated how full we would be from CS meals!
