QS Plan Children's Meal Question

We are using the QS plan for the first time and I have an issue I can't seem to figure out. I have read (on the DIS I think) that a child can order a regular meal if there is no child's menu available at a given location. My question is, how does Disney handle this in regard to the credits used. Do I have to ensure that the children's KTTW cards are used for their individual meal? I am throughly confused by this, for some reason. Or perhaps, I have completely misinterpreted the whole thing and this is not even a possibility!:lmao:

There are very few locations without a children's menu.
But if dining at such a location, your credits are not charged any differently. Von your receipt, all cs credits will be pooled.

This is the reason that Disney pools the adult and child credits together. It's up to the individual to keep track of how many adult and child credits are used. If there aren't any kids meals available then you count your kids' meal as being paid for using a kids credit within whatever method you're using to track the credits.

The way that I understand it is that Disney does not keep track of it in the "big system" so to speak. In other words, the only way that Disney does regulate it is at the cash register.

For instance, if you are a family of two adults and two children, then at the cash register (during one transaction), you could purchase no more than two adult meals at one time and two children's meals at one time, if the restaurant has a children's menu.

However, if you were at a place that offered no children's menu, then that place would not keep you from ordering four "adult" meals, because they wouldn't really be "adult" meals at those places. They would just be meals. Period.

But if you are at a place that does offer a children's menu, then they will limit you to two adult meals during one transaction. But even at those places, if you and your spouse both ordered an adult meal and then a few minutes later your spouse was still hungry, he or she could go back to the same register and order another adult meal. Disney does not regulate how many credits you spend on a given day. (They only keep you from purchasing three adult meals during one transaction, if your party only has two adults.)

Also, once your credits are gone, they are gone. Even if you theoretically spend them all on the first day. Hope this makes sense. It is confusing to me, too, and I may be mistaken. But this is the way that it has been explained to me, and it seems to be the way that it works when I am there. Someone please correct me, if I am wrong! :goodvibes

Per the current policy of the DIS Restaurant Board, any posts discussing using credits for which a child's price was paid on adult meals (at a CS that has a child's menu) will be deleted. Disney's dining plan literature states that if the restaurant has a child's menu, a child must order from it.

Thanks so much for all your replies. :worship: I think I get it, FINALLY! So the meals are counted per transaction? If we order 4 meals at once, it counts 2 adult and 2 children whether there is a children's menu or not. Am I at least on the right track? :rotfl:

I don't know why I can't wrap my brain around this!

You're on the right track, but...

Your KTTW cards will say 2A 2C (based on your sig).

When you go to a CS that has a Children's menu you can't order more than 2meals from the Adult's menu and 2 meals from the children's menu because that's what is stated on your KTTW card. You can't order 3 Adult and 1 Child's meal even though that equals 4 meals.

If the CS is one of the few that doesn't have a children's menu (e.g. Yorkshire Fish and Chips), then you can order up to 4 meals from the menu.
