QS foodcourt at POFQ?

Hi. We're thinking about staying at the POFQ for the first time. We've stayed previously at the POR and liked it, but thought we'd try something new this time. I know that POR has a really nice (!!!) QS restaurant, but haven't seen much info on the one at FQ. How would you compare the two? Is the cuisine at FQ strictly New Orleans/cajun styled? Is there much of a selection? Is it an unreasonable distance to walk over to POR for meals if FQ doesn't suit us? TIA for your opinions!

we were not excited about our choices this past May at French Quarter...They even took away the pasta and meatball selections...the other items were cajun and pizza..
I think that the food court at R is much better and has alot of other selections that FQ doesnt have....

what we did do was have breakfast at the Food court and then if we didnt want the items at FQ we would eat in the park that we were at...
Hope you have a great visit to the House of the Mouse

The food court at POFQ is really small. We stayed there for the first time last October and repeatedly remarked that we wondered what a mess it must be in the busier times.

There were choices that seemed Cajun-esque ;), like muffaletta sandwiches, gumbo, etc, but they also had pizza, chicken, salads -- pretty typical Disney resort food court fare.

I would think it would be a decent walk for you to get over to the POR food court. We never did try that; if I recall correctly, it's something like a 1mile distance to POR from the main area of POFQ.

The food court worked out fine for us; we absolutely loved POFQ, especially how the buses take you straight to your park and straight back...divine! Charming decor and a fun pool. We all loved it.

Hope you enjoy!

Thank you both for your replies! I had the impression that the food court was kinda small and limited, and you guys confirmed it. But I've heard lots of good things about the FQ resort itself, so I don't think the food will be a good enough reason to stay elsewhere. Probably the only real times we'd even be at the foodcourt would be for breakfast -- and I'd assume/hope they'd have regular ole' breakfast fare there (bounty breakfasts, eggs, bacon, etc)?

I really liked their chicken quesadillas. They give you salsa and sour cream with it and it was quite tasty!

Its been a few years, but we were satisfied with the food court at FQ for our needs. The beignets were awesome and I am pretty sure I gained at least a few lbs on those alone. :rotfl:

We did walk over and eat at POR once, just to reminisce as we had spent our honeymoon there. We had the kids in strollers and it was a nice relaxing walk, and we took the boat back. It took a little extra time, so it would not be recommended if time were a concern, but it isnt impossible.

FWIW, we really enjoyed POFQ. I would probably return there over POR, although we liked Riverside too.

Although there is only QS at POFQ, the resort is a great place to stay. We love it there!!

I wasn't blown away by the POFQ counter service options, but it was fine. Twice we took the boat to DTD and ate at Wolfgang Puck Express.

we had breakfast at the food court probably 8 times and we were there for eleven days...That was always delicious...

BUT the resort itself is very nice....our main reason going there...not big like Riverside (Dixie Landings) ...We love the atmosphere and the closeness of it...

Have a great vacation

Yes, the foodcourt at POFQ is much smaller than at POR but that's one of the reasons I like it. :) We've always had a few meals there during our stays and have found it adequate for our needs. Love the muffeletta with pasta salad and beignets. Breakfasts are ok, nothing special. At dinner you can get ribs, fried chicken, rib & chicken combo, pot roast, a couple of other things as well.

The Beignets are so good. They make them when you order them so they are hot and covered in powdered sugar.
The food court is smaller but still has very good food. I really liked the ribs and DH has had pot roast a few times and loved it. If you want to go over to POR you could take the boat rather than walking. Although I am not sure what time it starts in the morning, it does go well into the evening since it goes to DTD.

Thank you all for your replies and suggestions! Wow, I had no idea they'd have stuff like ribs, chicken and even pot roast!!! YaY! DH and I aren't spicy, cajun-style eaters at all, so I was a bit concerned about the types of food served there.... Not anymore! And I have since gone ahead and made our reservations for week before Thanksgiving at the POFQ. We're excited and anxious to check out our new resort!

We fell in love with POFQ last year. It's a beautiful resort :)

I agree with the poster who said the foodcourt is not a good enough reason to influence a decision not to stay at a resort. We enjoyed the small food court. The service was personal, the food was great and we were quite happy with the selections. Also, we eat most of our meals in the parks.

As mentioned previously, the food court is on the smallish side, but we have always received decent, fresh food there. We stayed at POR last May, and although I liked the resort and food court in general, I still prefer the more intimate feeling of the POFQ food court and the choices (beneigts, anyone?) Also, it's a nice bonus that you can use the TIW card at POFQ, which is the only moderate resort that accepts that discount.

The fried chicken is really, really good. Yummy cornbread as one of the sides to chose from, too.

You won't be disappointed with POFQ, you're gonna love it. :lovestruc

We love it there and even though we are staying elsewhere next week we are planning to visit there for beignets. I have stayed at por as well and I view them as comparable but I think during august por food court is crazier than pofq.

On a related note does anyone know if they still have the pizza, desset, and drink for 2 cs credits?
