So I'm fixin' to print the next round of WDW photos from April 2005 and I'm not sure what size to print, 4x6 or 5x7.

What do ya'll normally print?? Or do you print every pic individually depending on what you need it for?

I do try to cram as many pics on a 2 page layout as possible, I do know a few off hand that will be larger maybe an 8x10 cropped down. But for the most part I typically have no less than 3 pics per page.

I do many different sizes.

I put 4 2x3 pics in one 4x6 space (like for food porn, or detail shots)
I put 2 3x4 pics in one 4 x 6 space (I do this a lot for show pics)

And then I get some at 4x6, some 5 x 7 and a handful of 8x10s to be focal points on the pages and then put those smaller pics around them.

I scrap and then print phots to go on my pages (and mine are odd sizes, I do a lot of resizing in paintshop pro)

Thanks Hope.

I have decided that there is no way I can pick them up tonight so I'm going over them again to see what I want to print. I typically print all of them but there really is no sense in printing duplicates, DH takes several shots of the same thing to get the perfect one.
The pics are mostly Epcot, it was a short trip for the Flower and Garden festival and we spent 1 1/2 days at Epcot. I have some really good topiary shots and want to highlight them so I'm even thinking of printing a few of the best ones in 8x10 and then cropping them down.

I really want to take my pages to the next level but I feel almost stuck in 4x6land.

I really need my own printer.

I used to do all 4 x 6, but lately (since I started our Disney album) I do all kinds of sizes, too. I do a lot of smaller (like 2 x 3) stuff so I can fit more photos per page. The size of the photo also depends on how good it is. For example, we had a lot of photos from Chef Mickey, but none of them were all that great (I was NOT the photographer!). I printed them pretty small and used them more as embellishments to the autographs we got that night instead of the other way around:).

I have my own photo printer, and I love it. I never would have gotten as many pages done as I have in this, my first year as a scrapper, as I have done if I hadn't gotten a printer. The trip to the mall or waiting for them in the mail just doesn't work for me.

DH is a fabulous photographer so it is sooo hard to decide. I'm going through them now in iPhoto and deciding what I want per page and it's helping. I'm mostly doing 4x6, and wallet. But I'm throwing in a few 8x10 and 5x7

here's a really good one:

I do all kinds of sizes but for my Disney photos I normally just choose the ones i want and order them in 4 by 6. When I want a different size I tend to print it myself. I will get the photos to the size I want and then cram them on an 8 by 10 sheet to print. When I am doing little photos for a strip or accents i can get tons on an 8 by 10.

That's me exactly. If I'm ordering them, I'm nearly always ordering 4x6. I do print a lot of my own too though. When I don't want to fuss with sizing them myself, I use the templates my photo editing program have that fit 6, 8 or 9 to an 8.5x11 piece of paper. I use those sizes a lot for accent photos.

My most recent completed trip album included about 15 pages of topiaries from Flower and Garden. I just know my girls will skip right over them when they look through it, but they are some of my favorite pages!!

So I guess the next obvious question is what kind of printer to buy.

Tell me what you like and don't like about the ones you have.

have an HP 4x6 instant printer but I'm just not fond of the colors. They seem to sit on top of the paper so the colors aren't as bright. It's not bad for $35 on clearance but I don't want to use it all the time.

i do 4x6 mostly all the time. and i'm also looking to branch out to something different.

and i'm with you buffy, what kind of printer would one buy to print good quality pics?

I couldn't tell you what model it is or anything, but I have an Epson. I had heard from various sources that Epson makes the best printers for photo printing and I've been extremely happy with it.

I do 4x6 and then I go through them (when I actually do it instead of swapping!) and crop all of them - I just take time to do only cropping - I have lots of cool stuff from fiskars to do that and then I sort them out by park and when I get to it, scrap from there and work them into the pages.

I do have a printer that will do photos but I rarely print myself.

I use shutterfly for my orders -they get to me in a few days and are pretty reasonable. I just ordered 600 pics yesterday from this trip (we just got back) and that isn't even counting the photopass pics I didn't get yet (cd not ordered yet). The nice thing is you can order matte which I prefer and get them mailed or you can order gloss and pick up at target.

They also give me lots of free stuff over the year since I do so many pics - this year I got a free 18 month calendar, two free photobooks and a free photomug. I paid about 2 bucks each for shipping but that's it!

Hey people - where's the love? I see dancing trees, snowmen.....?

I need to replace my turkey!

My printer is rubbish for photos, so i get mine from Snapfish, but we can't get the choice of sizes you do:sad1: 6x4 is the smallest (well, 3.5 x 5.5 true digital) but other than that if you go wallet you get 4 the same and it costs £1 (thats $2 to you! )

I have a HP Photosmart 8050. It will go up to 8.5 x 11 (I think). I always use 4 x 6 paper and cut things down. I get good, bright colors. I've never had a problem with it. It was also free (from a deceased relative).

for me it depends on the book or theme....with Disney we go often so I have tons of pictures. The scrap books start to look the same. Hate to say it but the castle is the castle....unless of course it is an anniversary and they change it....so I am now doing a lot of 5x7 and even 8x10's. I choose the best photos or the ones that capture the trip the best. For me it just becomes too much, too many.....and I will never be caught up so I need to par it down!

Ok, apparently I've missed out on a bit of conversation here - what exactly is food porn? :confused3 :rotfl:

I'm not Hope, but I'll answer that for you. Food porn is when you take pictures of your restaurant food, so you can lust over it later. ;) There is a sticky on the top of the Restaurant Board here where everyone has shared their own Food Porn pictures. I try to avoid that thread unless I'm leaving for WDW soon - way too tempting otherwise!

I mainly do 4x6 myself. Mostly because I print them all from Snapfish and then decide what goes in the book. I am too impatient to wait to print a 5x7 or 8x10. Although I have some really good pictures of both the kids from DBIL's wedding that I will most likely print bigger.
