It's been awhile since I've been forced to book a flight that wasn't a NS.

Booked on a SWA flight that is listed as having 1 stop, with no plane change. It's scheduled to stop in ATL for 35 minutes before continuing onward

Since the stop is so short, should I assume they won't permit us off the flight? Going thru MDW on AT we were able to do this, but it had a 45 min stop.

Added EBIC when i noticed the flight quadrupled a few months ago, worst case, guess we can 'stretch our legs' and move forward to any open seats once passengers disembark in ATL

no plane change and 35 minute stop sound like a "touch and go" to me, that is to say, land, pull up to terminal, drop of some passengers and/or pick up a few passengers, take on a little fuel, then take off again. Most people will just stay seated until the stopover is done.

last time we had one of those... they told us after the plane was empty we had a change, and had to spend 3 hours in the airport after all... the good news is we got priority boarding on the next flight .....

I did a one stop last year, PIT-BWI-MCO. They told us to stay in our seats until they did a head count. After the head count, we were permitted to move. Shortly after, the new group boarded. They didn't say anything about being allowed to get off.

they are not gonna let you off.
after everyone that is supposed to exit does so then the remaining people will be able to get up and stretch and use the bathroom and more people will come on the plane.

they needed to head count those remaining on board (there were 2 - DH & I) then we could get off if we wanted to use a "real" bathroom & we'd be allowed back on first. We moved to better seats & just stayed on.

I would plan on staying on the plane. The quicker they can get the new passengers on the plane, the better.

Of course, you can sit somewhere else on the plane if you want once the first leg passengers get off.

thanks, had a feeling a 'real' bathroom break wasn't in the cards lol

It's really a short time and they start boarding shortly after those getting off are done. Just enough time to change seats if you want.

we bought the EBIC since flight price quadrupled a few months ago, figured full flight but do plan on moving on up once we land in ATL.

Don't rule it out. Just ask one the the FAs if you can get off for a few minutes. More often than not, they tell me yes and the explain what to do.
Out of curiosity, how do you get back on board? You wouldn't have a boarding pass/assignment for that flight segment, right? Do you risk losing your seat if you deplane?

My name was put on a list and we were called up first ... IIRC we boarded after preboarders.

I was happy to get off plane *for a few minutes* so I was not concerned about getting same seat.

The reason (given) for being able to deplane on a *Direct flight* = change of crew.

My personal item was on my seat and DW was next to it. ;)
FA instructed me to tell GA I was re-boarding. GA handed me a re-boarding slip and told me I had how much time I had and to just go directly to podium if they were boarding when I returned. I had barely cleared the gate when they started boarding. On my return I just held up my pass and the GA waved me up.

this was my experience in the past

Because we all know a "personal item" on the seat will keep someone from claiming it. :rotfl2:

Sorry, just having some fun. :thumbsup2
