Anybody know what happens to your existing reservations booked Executive when your status drops due to not achieving the required # of rentals?

Sadly, DH's National Executive status will be disappearing next year and back to Emerald he'll go. Currently, we have one personal reservation booked for next summer at a very good rate using the Executive methodology (full size for mid size rate).

Should I be concerned it might self-cancel or we'd get stuck paying much higher prevalant rate?:confused3 Don't want to call jik it might 'red flag' the account & you never know - the status might just slip thru the radar & continue to be Executive;).

Perhaps I should just book a midsize the regular way & not link to his account at all jik & flip it over to Emerald before the trip if needed?

Help:)

I am in the same position. My executive status expires Feb 28, 2011 and I have a ressie using executive for March 10. I got my upgrade to executive via the AMEX promo a couple of years ago and was automatically renewed last year, so I am hoping for the same.

My assumption is that I reserved a full size through executive selection, but am paying the intermediate price. If I go back to regular emerald club, I am assuming that I still can pick from the aisle and will argue such if they tell me I am no longer executive.

We'll see how it all plays out....

sounds like a plan...i can argue with the best of them:laughing:

wonder if the status might automatically change on the reservation the way it did when the fees changed @ MCO year or so ago

Dunno, but always wondered this myself. We have managed 50 rental days again this year, so will be upgraded to another year. One of the downsides is, is if you book now and it says Executive Aisle, and then later you rebook because the rate drops, it will reclassify you into Emerald Aisle. I lost my status one year (about 4 years ago) and I was too chicken to keep my Executive Aisle reservations, so rebooked them under my then current status when I got downgraded. Who knows, maybe magically you'll maintain your status again. Heck, last year I had fullfilled my requirement and got downgraded and I had to write them to correct it back to Executive, while some folks never met their requirements and got upgraded.

BTW -- to show how slow they are, I reached my over 40 days the beginning of last month, which meant I should have been upgraded for another year now, but like everyone else I'm still listed as February 2011. I'm waiting for my December members statment before I write them again to review my account.

i didn't realize how 'behind' they were as to record keeping, maybe even those of us who didn't earn our status will slip thru the crack although it doesn't seem fair to those who were loyal enough to earn the 50 days:guilty:.

Many of the different airports i've been along for the ride (rental;)) the national ExA has had some very cool vehicles available, vs MCO, where i've really never found anything more exciting than an avalon or charger in their aisles (either emerald or executive).

Yep, you never know. Actually you only have to reach 40 days to maintain, I'm just up to 50 now. We normally only rent out of Dulles and MCO. If my account gets upgraded or changes I'll post back, but doubt we hear or see anything until January (or February).

As for seeing anything exciting. In October we saw a Lincoln Towncar in the exec. aisle and my DH wanted it so bad, but we were catching up with friends and had to opt for a minivan. My DH won't soon let me forget it. I hope there's one there in January as it's just the 2 of us on that trip.

Just an FYI. I am not sure about National as I have not "dropped" status but on Hertz and Avis I have dropped a level and the reservation was automatically 'updated' showing my new "entitlements" :)

(And based on what I have seen at Natiohal lately... don't get your hopes up for "exciting" on either the Aisle or Executive Aisle!)

This did happen to me. I lost my Executive status early this year and already had a June 2010 reservation using it. Alas, for me it was caught immediately . . . and I was downgraded to Emerald automatically; which I only discovered when I checked the reservation status . :headache: Oh - the mortification of it all.

I'm not saying this happens to everyone, but it did happen to me. :rolleyes1

I guess it doesn't take much to make us happy on the Executive Aisle.

This year alone this is what I got off the Aisle:

January = Town/Country Minivan
March = Ford Edge Crossover
April/May = Ford Explorer w/3rd row seating
Sept/Oct = Sienna (saw several Lincoln Towncars, but took the minivan)
October/Nov = Sienna

Rented at Dulles, but used Emeral Reserve.

All of those would have been left. I am a single business travel I do NOT drive mini vans and if that's ALL the Aisle has I go complain. (They market to buisness travelers) I also won't take an SUV anymore. Way too many friends who have experienced "smash and grab" thefts! National generally doesn't pay for the "cargo cover"

But I am in the Orlando airport about once a month and.... Malibu, Malibu, Malibu... the "upgrade" on Executive is "Grand Marquis" (YUCK!) I am happy if I can get the Camry!

Yep, we travel as the 2 of us mostly, but often we catch up with friends and it's easier to have one larger vechile. I agree about the sedans though. Other than seeing the Towncar just recently, we seldom see any great sedans. Last year we had a Ford Tarus FOUR times out of our 6 visits to WDW. We even took the same color each time and considered it ours. We drive a Ford Explorer in our real world, and my DH drives a Ford 350 pickup, so we do then to go for the larger vechiles.

One warning on Ford products at National... Some of the new one's have a "safety feature" They will NOT go over a set speed and you cannot CHANGE it without the "master" key which National keeps! So if the speed limit is say 70 and you try to pass at 75 it just stops accelerating. IMHO it's dangerous (since they don't warn you at National about this "feature" and much too "big brother") I am leary of Fords right now at National.

thanks for the feedback all, gives me another reason to keep checking the res.

not sure how MCO would handle it if an ex-ExA person would select a car from that aisle vs Em anyway whether in error or by design:confused3. Would they have you go back into garage & return it & do over or just sur-charge you automatically for the 'fullsize' which you likely wouldn't find out until the email confirmation showed up after the trip.

I got my December "member" statement today and I made it again. I thought 50 days, but they say 48 (those part days get iffy sometimes). It still maintains my level for another year, though not changed yet on the screen -- it still says Feb. 2011. There was a statement saying that there would be changes March 2011 and a spot to click and read, but I didn't see anything different. :confused3

we got the email too no changes to our expiration date

it said there were changes to master rental agreement upcomiing March:confused3, i clicked but couldn't spot them.

Yea, it's like those statements you get in the mail telling you your cc is changing and you don't have a clue or what exactly is changing. How hard would it be to say, we are changing this to that!! Or no longer allowing you to do this now.

Just curious, has anyone gotten their status extended yet? Our still says expires Feb. 2011. Last year we got downgraded after the expiration date even though we fulfilled the requirement and it took several emails to get it fixed. This year I'm trying to see if it extends on its own or if I have to again contact them to pull my file to see that we have continued to maintain our status. I've been logging in a couple of times a week just to see if my status has been changed to Feb. 2012 yet, but so far nothing. We fulfilled our status by renting 50 days again this year. :confused3

Still waiting....anyone else's account been extended to 2012 yet?

as of yesterday, mine still says 2011. I have a feeling that I won't know until I show up at MCO on March 10.

Site still sez 2/28 for DH. I wonder if free rental days i have stockpiled will go poof too if he's booted back to EA. Im thinking EA needs more rental days to earn a freebie, could be wrong.
