OK so I have watched some Scrapbooking show on DIY channel on my cable lineup. It looks interesting and my fiance thinks I should try it.

  • 1) I am just wondering what stuff/materials should I be looking at getting to start doing scrapbooking?
  • 2) Also are there any book on the basics of scrapbooking that anyone would reccommend?

Thanks,

Mike

Click on Lisa TX's "Frequently asked questions" at the top of the forum page. Then click on "Getting started..." and take a look at "Favorite links..."
good luck! It's a fun hobby.

Welcome to our addiction.

It's great to see a guy get into scrapping. In addition to checking out the FAQ thread, stop off at your local library and pick up a few books on scrapping. Third. Check out your LSS. It looks like www.capturethememories.net might be close to you. We love men at our LSS(local scrapbook store). We are trying to get one of the guys to host a men only class. Many of the high school kids also get into it by scrapping their sports team and get hooked.

We're always here for questions and encouragement. Keep us posted

Thanks for the answers. And I do FEEL STUPID! I always point people to FAQs and I got complete brain freeze before posting that message and didn't think to check for FAQs here and reading them before posting.

Thanks again and I will check the FAQs out and if I have any further question THEN I will post again.

One problem/question I have is that this past Jan on our trip to WDW the fiance and I took MANY pictures but with our DIGITAL camera. How do people make thier prints and do people do any planning beforehand with the digtal images and plan a page using some app (if there is something that could be used for this) and then after they have it planned, print out the images they need?

Please, don't be shy about posting anything. The FAQ is a good place to start but it doesn't have all the answers.

There is so much out there that it gets a bit intimidating at first. The words you will hear a good bit of the time is acid free. They are probably the most important. The rest is fluff. Just grit your teeth and jump. Print out a few of your digitalis and create a few pages. We call all pretty much guarantee you that those first few pages with not turn out to be anywhere close to being your favorites.

Come back to the board often and post. Let us know how things are progressing and what you working on. Let's us help you with problems and tell us about things you have discovered.

I wasn't trying to be a know-it-all by telling you to look at the FAQ's. I just thought it might be helpful.
I like to tell newbies that everybody has their own style. After a few pages you'll know what yours will tend to be. Some people make very elaborate pages with lots of embellishments. I tend to do a border and maybe some frames but mostly I'm doing albums for the journaling aspect. Whatever you do is fine, 'cuz it's yours!!:D
