Q for the locals

Not sure I have posted in the right section but I'll give it a go anyways.

We will be staying at the HoJo for 10 days and then in Studio City for a week. At some point during our trip we want to go and see the Le Brea Tar Pits. First I thought it was not far from Disneyland so I thought we would go whilst we're in Anaheim. But now I am confused as to where it is. I now have the thought that it might be closer to LA so we should go when we are in Studio City.

I am just confused, can anybody help please?

It is west of Los Angeles and google says about 35 miles from Disneyland to La brea Tar Pits while Studio City is about 9 miles. To get there from Disneyland you would have to drive up the 5 freeway to the westbound 10. Minimum drive on a Sunday night at about 3 am maybe you could do it in 45 minutes but you are driving through a major interchange and if you do it right maybe an hour or so. Long ways so do it from Studio City if you can.

I agree about Studio City. And the tar pits are way cool. You will enjoy it.

And Studio City is just a stones throw from Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and Santa Monica. There are lots and lots of things to do here.
Besides the touristy stuff, some of which you shouldnt skip, there are fantastic restaurants, really fun things to see and do.
Google the web sites for the City of Hollywood, Beverly Hills and Santa Monica. You will get loads of info and ideas for stuff to do.

Getting to the starting point would be easier from Studio City, but you can also do it via Metrolink from Anaheim to L.A. Union Station, then Red Line subway from Union Station to the Hollywood & Highland station where the Chinese Theater is. Note that Metrolink day pass fare includes the Red Line fare so this option is cheaper than Amtrak/Red Line. And as said before, it would be easier from Studio City.
