Hi there... planning a trip next summer and my son and I will have one bonus day as my husband will be working that day. I'm wondering what you do as a season pass holder, or regular visitor of the parks when you just have time to enjoy and relish in the moment. For example, my son (8yo) loves Tom Sawyer island, I'm thinking we could spend hours there as we are usually rushing onto the next thing. Any other gems out there that you really take your time and enjoy since you go to the park frequently?

We live near an amusement park here and have season passes and I know one of the things we do every year is just sit in frontier town and enjoy the sights, and my son makes a handmade candle every year.

Thanks in advance for your opinions!

My daughter is not as old as your son but we just love going to Epcot and strollIng through all the countries and looking at the gardens. We are in no rush and no desire to jump on a ride. We will get a couple of nice adult beverages and find a nice shady spot to relax.

That sounds just wonderful! Thank you for taking the time to reply :)

Resort days! DH likes DisneyQuest (and it will be gone soon!) so we tend to go there. We also just take it slower in the parks. Try to notice the details. We may try parasailing this trip. Also, I love tours!

The street entertainment is our favorite. When we had APs and went frequently, we would sometimes get a times guide and just go from show to show. Not sure if an 8 year old would enjoy so much, but we loved Dapper Dans, Main Street band, Flag Retreat in MK; Voices of Liberty, Japan drummers in Epcot; and steel drum and African drum shows in AK. Also renting a boat at DTD was super fun. And since DisneyQuest is set to close, it may be worthwhile to make a memory there. We could play the classic arcade games for hours.

I'm guessing we will be there after Disney Quest closes, I wish they would keep it going next summer but doubtful since they already announced it- bummed! Steel drum band, who knew!
Thanks again :)

In Hollywood studios, there's the frozen sing-a-long show or an Indian Jones show. They also have an activity where your child can become a jedi and fight Darth Vader, which is very fun. In Animal Kingdom, they have a nemo and ling king show (both are awesome). They also have a cool safaria to go on. If you do the safari, either go straigh in to morning or during the animals lunch time to get the best views. Epcot is nice to just take a stroll through the countries , just stay hydrated. In Magic Kingdom, if you sit on the second level of the train station, you have a great view of main street and the parades. I would also recommended going to the monsters laugh floor, because they have great audience interaction plus it's air conditioning and you generally only wait 10-20 minutes, so no need to get a fastpass. I would also go on dumbo too, especially since they moved it. While you wait for dumbo, you get put in a play area and you are given a buzzard, that way you still wait, but your child is entertained.

Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom. One evening we went to MK just to play this game. My son loved it.

Is that sort of like the Agent P game at Epcot? We've never tried it but sounds like something we would enjoy!

Two things that my boys loved at that age (other than Tom Sawyer's Island)

The Boneyard in Animal Kingdom and the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids playground in Hollywood Studios.

It makes it easier to enjoy the parks in smaller doses.

My kids could spend a few hours playing Sorceror's.

Up until it closes,
animation academy was a nice place to cycle through. But it won't be around much longer and I don't know if it is closed for good or just a temp
Closure.

EPCOT is a good park for stopping and smelling the roses. Stopping in for festival activities only is another thing that can be done.

My son LOVED the Boneyard at AK- forgot about it! We missed out on the HS playground due to rain but thanks for reminding me about it :)

THIS! My 7 year old son loves playing the game. But we never have time to get very far because there is a ride to catch, a meal to eat or other siblings to entertain. He would be overjoyed to have the better part of the day to dedicate to SoMK.

The other thing that we do because we are passholders and local is spend a lot of time in the Seas at Epcot.
