We are going to go to a WDW in a few weeks (still haven't booked our room! ACK!!!:scared1: ) and we are wanting to stay at CBR.

We will be going to a WDW wedding & the rehearsal dinner, etc...

My Q is, since we are taking the DME we didn't want to bring our carseat for our 2 yo. But to get around from our hotel to Rehearsal dinner than to the wedding etc...we are wanting to take a taxi (all stuff is on WDW related to wedding), so I was wondering if it is pretty common for taxis to have car seats to get around WDW?

Do you think it would also be worth it to take a taxi from CBR to get to MK on the day that we are going to visit it? We are trying to figure out if it would be worth to spend our extra $$ to upgrade to a monorail hotel or to save that money & just use a little extra to use a taxi to get to & from, if that makes sense

thank you:flower3::flower3:

Why not use Disney Transport to get around. I understand using a taxi getting to the wedding, but Disney Transport from CBR to MK would do the trick.... and the best thing.... it is FREE!

well, we were trying to justify spending the $ to stay at a monorail hotel & it is so much more, that we thought, if we need to go back to our room for DS nap or something, that by the time the bus took us to our room, it may not be worth it. So we thought we should just stay at a moderate room & we can justify staying at the moderate room by knowing we could use a taxi. But I am not sure how much the taxis cost to & from hotels to MK...

We will def. take it to MK in the a.m. but just was thinking if we were really tired or had a fussy tot by the end of the day or at nap time, if it may be worth taking a cab.

wasn't sure if they were that readily available.

Cabs are readily available pretty much everywhere. Except at Magic Kingdom. You'd have to first take the ferry or monorail to the TTC - that's where the cabs have to wait.

There's a taxi fare estimator link in the Popular Transportation Links sticky near the top of this forum, but fares are something like $2.25 a mile, with the first mile costing about $3.85

Situations like this, where you want maximum flexibility, are those where it's worth the extra money to rent a car.

Car rentals this year are about twice the cost of the same time last year, but even so, it's probably worth it to spend that money and either bring a carseat from home, rent one from the rental car company, or buy one at WalMart or Target when you arrive. The additional cost of multiple taxis could really add up over the course of your stay, anyway. Instead of $100 in cab fares, you'd be spending $300 for a rental car - but you'd have your own wheels, with a car seat for your kid, which is far safer than an unsecured seat on DME or the regular WDW buses or a cab, and you'd be able to go where you want, when you want, without waiting for the buses or making multiple stops.

Check out a few prices and see what a rental would cost you for your stay. Look on MouseSavers.com for codes, coupons, and tips to save money, and check back often to see if your rates go down.

You can ask for a cab with a car seat, but there is no guarantee you'll get one. If you do get one, there is no guarantee that it will be clean or, more importantly, safe.

If you plan on traveling by car, either taxi or rental, bring a car seat.

I totally agree with this.

This is so true. Even when we had a DVC tour and the DVC van picked us up, the car seat they provided was ancient and we didn't realize until after my son sat in it that it was also wet.

I forgot about this point last night. You would have to take the monorail or ferry to the TTC to get a taxi anyways. That same time can be spent waiting for the bus and it would get you back to CBR in the same time.

I also agree that monorail hotels are WAY expensive.. I have no clue how people can afford them.....

thank you guys so much for your input!

definitely things I would have never known about!
I didn't realize that you couldn't catch a cab right in front of MK
so that alone is making me reassess what we are going to do!

I will add that Wilderness Lodge is considered a Deluxe, but is usually the cheapest of the Deluxes.... they have a boat directly to MK that runs quite often. You can also take a boat to CR and walk from there or take a bus to MK from Wilderness Lodge. We have stayed there twice and it is very nice.

I've never stayed at WL, but I've visited enough to know that you're right - it's a mighty nice place to stay. And I've seen price quotes to know that it is often the cheapest of the Deluxes, though it's still a few light-years out of my price range.

Transportation at WL is very good, with both boats to MK and Contemporary, and the buses to everywhere else.

But I'm a die-hard car man. I'd rent a car even if I were staying at WL, or one of the monorail resorts.
