Do you think the cell phone company will charge an early termination fee if I turn ask to turn off my cell 5 months early. It's with ATT and I think it's $350 for early termination.

Unless they've changed the policy since I used to work for them, yes, you'll be charged the ETF if you cancel your service even one month before your contract is over.

Yes. My daughter switched from our family plan to my ex-husband's and Verizon wouldn't let us turn it off six WEEKS early without paying the fee. We ended up paying for her service until the end of her contract, which was much less expensive than the termination fee.

(My ex has unlimited data, and we don't, and she was using up all our data, so it made way more sense for her to be on his plan than ours.)

Read the contract you signed when you started the service. If the ETF is prorated it will tell you so in the contract.

DH just got the phone with them and it's not as bad as we thought. the disconnect fee is about $115(pro-rated) and we must pay the new bill when its generated . Right now we can no longer even see the account online. So I guess we wait for it to come in the mail. Thanks everyone for your help.
