WOW!

I just got 6 pyrex baking dishes SHIPPED for under $20:banana:

from shopworldkitchen dot com . AND if you register for their email newsletter, they send instantly a 20% off coupon!! the shipping on the 6 dishes was only $6.95. This is legit!! I got 3 of the 3 qt rectangles and 3 of the 3 qt oblongs as well as 2 of the 5 cup squares... the 3 qt rectangles are the 9" x 13" baking dishes!!

You got the 20% off coupon right away? I signed up for the newsletter about 10 minutes ago and haven't received anything, I even tried my other email and nothing in that one either and nothing in my spam.

Thank you for posting this, I just ordered three of the baking dishes. I didn't get the 20% off either, but at $1.99 each, I'm still happy. :thumbsup2

I think I'm going to pass after reading the thread on slickdeals plus someone posted a link to a 10-pc set from Sears which is only $15 (free shipping with store pick up) but the disadvantage is that you can't pick and choose what you want. If there was a free shipping code I'd probably buy from them even though some people have had problems with them in the past (but others have had no problems).

Wow, thanks for the link! I just bought a bunch of pieces. We were running low.

Looks the the ones from Sear's come with lids. Can you freeze and reheat in them?

I'd be a little scared of using pyrex. It wasn't that long ago some one made a topic about their dish exploding, and if you type in pyrex explode, you'll come up with tons of hits.

Just my two cents on the subject.

I had a pyrex dish explode on me. I set aside oin my stovetop because I was going to use it for dinner. When preparing, I accidentally turned the wrong burner on (the one where the pyrex dish was). It exploded into a million pieces. They are oven safe but you cannot put them on direct heat. I have used pyrex since I was livng on my own, and even before when I was still liiving at home. That was the first time I ever had a dish explode, and it was completely my fault.

I've ordered from shopworldkitchen in the past. I stocked up on the pyrex blue dishes when they were on sale. They do this pyrex sale every few months. I also orderd a bunch of corelle dishes when they were having a great clearqnce, there were some issues with things in and out of stock buut I did eventually get my entire order.
The code can be used by any new customer, google it and then set up your account and use it :thumbsup2

MOST glassware/dishes will burst under the right circumstances. They must cool before going from oven to fridge or vice versa, and they cannot take direct heat (oven top)

Well, Pyrex states that it can be placed from freezer to oven. But there's even one article about how the lady took it out of her oven, placed it on top of the stove and it still exploded.

Thanks.

Got the baking dishes and a bunch of the Pyrex desert/custard dishes.

I am doing homemade flavored nuts for Christmas gifts. The dishes are over a cup in size. They are 59 cents, so that is cheaper than the small mason jars. I can cover with colored saran wrap and fun ribbon.

I also did the 20% off. So, I got 12 custard dishes, 2 3qt ovals, and 5 other baking dishes for $23.00. That is a deal!

Thanks again for posting. :thumbsup2

I had a pyrex explode in the oven, it must have had a small crack or something that I didn't realize, and I heard a pop and didn't think anything of it and awhile later my cake was smelling funny (because it was cooking on the bottom of the stove :rotfl:), but other than the mess it caused in the oven, no harm was done and I love pyrex.

They can't go DIRECTLY from freezer to oven.

From the above website:

Use and Care

Any glass bakeware product can break if it is not used properly. For that reason, we want to remind consumers to review the PYREX® Safety and Usage Instructions provided with our products. While not a substitute for reviewing the entire Safety and Usage Instructions, set forth below are selected highlights.

PYREX GLASS BAKEWARE SAFETY AND USAGE INSTRUCTIONS:

NEVER use on top of the stove, under a broiler, in a toaster oven, or place over oven vent or pilot light.
AVOID severe hot to cold temperature changes, including:
DO NOT add liquid to hot dish
DO NOT place hot dish or glass cover in sink
DO NOT immerse hot dish in water
DO NOT place hot dish on cold or wet surfaces
Handle hot ovenware and glass covers with dry potholders
ALWAYS add a small amount of liquid to the vessel prior to baking foods that release liquids while cooking.
DO NOT overheat oil or butter in microwave. Use minimum amount of cooking time.
DO NOT use or repair any item that is chipped, cracked or scratched.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

To loosen baked-on-food, allow glass to cool, then soak.
If scouring is necessary, use only plastic or nylon cleaning pads with nonabrasive cleansers.

Most of my baking dishes are Pyrex or Anchor Hocking glass. I like them a lot. $1.99 is a great price!
