Is anyone else counting on the prices to go down from Providence to Orlando in December? Of course, the prices were just right BEFORE free dining came out. I would rather not pay more than $100 each way (base ticket) but now I'm getting nervous. Last year we paid $79 each way for our December trip. Now we would be looking at nearly twice that:scared1:

Thoughts?

It's pretty much a 'wait and see' thing with the airlines. There is no way to tell if fares are going to go below $100. I doubt it's going to be the norm anymore. We got spoiled. I'm back to thinking that if I can get a fare of $250 or under, from either PVD or BOS to MCO, I'm happy.

I agree. If I can get something under $250 I'm happy.

$79 out of PVD to MCO is very rare, at least in my experience. I've only gotten that low of a price once & it's for our upcoming Oct. trip. I rebooked tickets already purchased when they had that big sale a couple months ago. I have a $300 credit now I have to use before mid-March & I have no trips planned after Dec. so not sure how that is going to work out. Most fares I see out of PVD are in the $109-$149 range. Some higher. I'm using SWA fares as my comparison. I guess it's possible you might get a sale. Who know for sure. :confused3 I wouldn't however count on getting a $79 fare.

Wow I have not seen anything under 114 in the last 2 months... wish I saw the 79 fare!!!! I have to book Oct 18 and then Nov 8 and the return was not open at the same time...Guess I should have started sooner...When we went in Dec in 09 the fare was 96 and 124. I guess it is like the lottery now it just what you happen to accidentally find.. we also just went in June and same thing 99 fare one way for the late night flight back 124 for the last flight out...:goodvibes

I haven't seen $150 each way for STL-MCO in more than a year for the dates we travel. Our tickets at Thanksgiving were $450 +/- RT on the day the schedule opened and the same flights are $600+ RT today.

We usually fly SW PVD to MCO. I only fly non-stop. If I can find prices under $250 I am very happy. For our October trip, I got $99 one way and was thrilled! I haven't seen $79 in a long time.

Unfortunately, it seems that airline ticket prices have moved up from what we experienced in the past several years. However, sometimes you can get lucky. About a month ago we were able to book BOS>MCO>BOS on Delta for $197.

Go to www.kayak.com and you can set up an alert that will email you daily or weekly with the latest prices for your travel dates.

The only reason that I'm pining away for that below $100 threshold is because the prices were $97 just before the free dining deal was released. I can't seem to pull the trigger at $130 (sigh).

What dates are you checking in December?? If you are shopping around Christmas dates... chance are you wont see the fare going down, if anything, the longer you wait that fare you dont want to pay will get higher because thousands are shopping the dates you are and will snatch this fare up and you will see higher fares.....did you check out of Boston, usually a major airport there are more flights and finding a lower rate is possible ... if a sale does come out, these lower fare will be available on flights with the highest inventory available, like flights the first two weeks of Dec or January...its a way for them to fill these seats...I just paid 270. RT from Hartford to Orlando...paid for the convience of a local airport..so close and easy for our family.
