To each their own. My wife and I stopped drinking pop for years, but the Freestyle machines at the movie theatre & Wendy’s started a new addiction.

It’s not worth it unless it’s Freestyle, imo.

Unfortunately, freestyle machines seem to be poorly maintained and/or calibrated more often than their regular machine counterparts, which has probably led to your experience.

Even at Aulani a couple months ago, plain diet coke was off-tasting from most of the machines and we ended up buying bottled diet coke instead. But a concoction of peach and strawberry sprite zero, while still a little off from its ideal, was very good and uniquely available at freestyle machines.

Trying to remember back to our Riviera stay earlier this year and I think the freestyle machines there were better than the ones at Aulani.

Hopefully Poly can keep theirs running in top shape, because they definitely can be bad.

I've always avoided freestyle machines because of a food allergy. I'm not allergic to all of the products, only some, but I'm not sure how the mechanics work inside and whether there is cross contamination.

I've heard it mentioned that all of the soda starts out as diet in the freestyle machines and that's what makes it have an off flavor. I don't drink diet so maybe that's what the issue is. I also feel like everything kinda mixes together to make the flavor a little off. I've now discovered that Bar Riva, Beaches Pool Bar at GF and Geyser Point at Boulder have regular fountain drinks so I may invest in a refillable mug when we go in December. Hopefully Island tower has a regular fountain machine somewhere. My husband drinks diet and likes the freestyle machines.

I like the freestyle primary because they typically have carbonated water, which I prefer to flat.

I much prefer the freestyle machines. It’s nice to get the sugar free vita water instead of fizzy drinks all day long.
