Put your photo on your votive candles!

Had an email from Michaels today with this idea (not sure I am allowed to link it on here, please let me know).

Putting your own photo on a glass votive candle. I thought this would be a wonderful idea for your fav Disney photos ... even better if you have seasonal ones.

Steps were very easy:

Reduce the size of the photo to fit onto glass votive and print from a toner base printer/copier. Cut out. Note: If there are any words in the photo, flip the image before printing.

Place a piece of packing tape over the photo, covering the entire photo.

Spray back side of photo with water. Let water absorb into paper back. Rub paper off of tape until all paper has been removed and theimage has transferred onto the tape.

Trim tape around transfer image.

Apply decoupage glue to the back of the transfer and stick it to the votive. Smooth the photo and rub off any extra gel. Let dry.

I'm going to try this. I'll let you know the results ... fingers crossed!!

I forget where I've seen that technique before, but it does work. ONLY with toner based prints though - not lazer jet. When you put the packing tape over the photo, burnish it on really well, with the back of a spoon.

Wet the paper from the back thoroughly, then roll it off with your fingers like you would a label from a jar. Don't use a tool for this because you don't want to scrape the picture off the tape. you may have to roll off a layer and then spray again. Eventually, you'll be left with just the photo on the tape, the paper will be gone.

Yeah I googled the instructions and saw it had to be a "toner based" printer. I was so bummed; I really wanted to make this.
