I just received an email telling me that "For a limited time" I can purchase additional points for my home resort and use year for only $115 per point.

Am I missing something? I thought that has been the going price for BWV for some time.:confused3

Got the same email except it was for BCV, and promising my same UY which they didn't have when I explored buying direct a few months ago.

Got one too.

Yeah, that has been the prevailing price. Still, sounds like a logical move. Many people are no-doubt under the assumption that only "active" resorts (SSR, AKV, BLT, Aulani) are available.

If DVC can boost demand for some of the older resorts, it justifies increased ROFR. Increased ROFR may help resale prices.

Got one for VWL at $102 a point. Hah!

Do I look like this?? I think not.

I got that e-mail for BWV too. It made me think that maybe the price was poised to go up soon.

Since DVC is a points based system it really bugs me that they sell points at the different resorts for different prices. The points charts should take care of the differential, with the more expensive resorts needing more points for a stay. (what that means is I really just want to buy more BWV points at $102 instead of the $115 they offered me.) ;)

Received two emails, $115 for BCV and $102 for VWL. Just curbed my addonitis with more points last January. If it hits again I'll go resale.

Recieved the same email for BWV think I will resist and keep looking at the resale market especially when I can save upto $45 per point.

I got it for BWV, $115 per point. If I'm going to add on, it would be VGC.

Selling to existing owners is less expensive than selling to new owners---the marketing costs per unit sold are much lower. This is just more of the same.

Increased ROFR may help resale prices.
It would need to be increased SIGNIFICANTLY. I would not hold my breath.

I also got the email for BWV. I just added on at $55 pp, so I guess they're too late....not like I would've considered it.

DVD is hurting because Aulani is on hold and BLT is almost sold out. In a effort to increase revenue, they have now decided to push the older resorts to existing members.

wdrl posted the following on DVCNews.com
August 2011 was also the 4th best month for sales in the last 12-month period

That's even a slight increase from August 2010.
July 2011 sales beat July 2010 points sold.

Hard to say that DVD is hurting on the revenue side.

As additional evidence, during 2010 there were periods where...
SSR sold at $90/pt
BLT under $100/pt (Doorway to Dreams)
AKV under $100/pt (Doorway to Dreams)

During 2011, DVD has successfully increased the price/pt with the feared dropoff in sales volume.

I should have posted "projected revenue" and you are correct, hurting was the wrong word. They are taking steps now to bring in additional revenue tomorrow. From what my sources are saying there are a lot of things going on behind the curtain at the DVC.

I wonder if this means we may see Grand Floridian sales sooner then expected:cool1:

I got an offer of HHI for $80/pt. We did a direct add-on there in January of this year for the same price. I'm wondering why we did NOT get an offer to add on at our other home, AKV? I think they would have had better luck with us if they'd waited until income tax return time:laughing:.

I got 4 of them :rotfl: Too many add ons! Wish I would have gotten the email last month!

Let us not forget, the new leader has a proven track record in marketing!

Am I the only one that thinks that DVC is on the verge of announcing some major changes?

With the changes in March - the small changes that have taken place since then - no longer allowing segmented reservations just to mention one - and the huge shake up in leadership over the issues that came out of the Aulani debacle.

With the possibility of the Grand Floridian on the horizon - the prices of resales dropping to such a level that the sales numbers have to be causing something to show up on DVC's radar - with the much lower maint fees at BLT, the increased price per point, and the number of resorts with active sales - there has to be something coming down the pike to invigorate DVC interest and sales.

If in fact the Grand Floridian IS getting a DVC building - the cost per point is either going to sky rocket for that property - or take on a new 'meaning' with much higher points per night - or a new room category - or a new perk available to members who own there - or something that is going to make members take a 2nd look at adding on, or not so quick to dismiss this 'once in a lifetime chance' to own a piece of Disney's flagship resort.

You read it here first folks - put my predictions on a calendar, and start a betting pool! - Go ahead, you won't regret it! HAHA

I think its going to be exciting! :cloud9:
