Purchasing Used Tickets

Hello Disney-o-philes,

My girlfriend and I are going to West Palm Beach in February and would like to spend a day at the Magical Kingdom and a day at Animal Kingdom. I remember from a while ago, hearing about people buying used tickets from vendors in Orlando. Is this still possible? Also, alot of the tickets for sale on discount websites only start at the 3-day passes, not the 2-day ones. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get my hands on some discounted passes? I know that Disney discourages this kind of thing and I apologize if I'm bringing up a taboo subject on the board.

Also, what should I expect for the drive from WPB to WDW?

Thanks a Million

Hi Eggo, and welcome to the DIS!

I can't help you with the drive from WPB to WDW, as I've never done it before. You might get a better response if you post your question on the Transportation Board.

With regards to the 2-day pass, check DiscountOrlandoVacation.com . They have a 2-day PH w/ DQ or PI plus that goes for $141/adult plus shipping. The ticket expires 10 days after it is first used but with a 2-day PH, chances are very good that you'll be using it all within one trip anyway. In comparison, a 2-day MYW hopper (no pluses) w/expiry would cost you $164.01 when purchased from Disney.

I would not purchase used tickets. First, because once a ticket has been used, it is considered to be non-transferrable by Disney. Secondly, there is no way to verify the number of days remaining on a pass. You would have to take it on faith from someone that you don't know that the cash that you're handing over is being spent on the real deal. There are stories every year of families whose vacations were ruined when they purchased tickets from disreputable, roadside sheisters. It's better to be safe and purchase from a reputable ticketbroker.

Get on the Florida Turnpike at West Palm. Go to Exit 249, Osceola Parkway. Turn LEFT at the traffic light at the end of the ramp. Go about 8 or 9 miles and you will cross I-4 and enter WDW. There signs oon property tend to be very good. I drove home from Ft Lauderdale last Thursday and traffic on the Turnpike was fairly light.

Thanks for the tips. The tickets on DiscountOrlandoVacation.com are just what I'm looking for. Now that the value of the Canadian $ is so high, these prices don't sound so bad anymore :D

and the drive wasn't bad. I think it was about 3.5 hours of smooth driving. This was on a Fri and didn't have a ton of traffic. The drive is a bit boring if you like to look out the window. You may want to bring some entertainment if you will have kids in the car, like books on tape, dvd player, or play games.

Before you buy a used ticket, just a little heads up. Disney has started the ticket tag program. When you place the ticket in the turnstile, you will also need to place your first two fingers in the scanner, the same way cast members do. The scanner measures the length of your "V" from knuckle to knuckle. The computer then links that ticket to you. The people who sell used tickets won't be around too much longer.

Used tickets? Don't do it!

I've read in several places that it's dangerous, and I saw a segment on a TV news show about people who had been fooled. Apparently the bad tickets on ebay are really a problem. I would absolutely never buy a used ticket from a stranger. You just can't know whether it's a good ticket or not. You can save at Disney in many ways, but this just isn't wise.

Personally, I like ticketmania.com, but there are several other good discounters on the 'net.
