Purchasing trip insurance for restricted guarantee rate

I'm assuming you can't purchased trip insurance through Disney for this kind of rate. Has anyone booked this rate and purchased insurance through a 3rd party? My father in law isn't well and wanted to get some trip insurance just in case. Or even myself, wife and two boys. Thanks.

You can purchase trip insurance for whatever kind of trip you want. I'd suggest visiting a travel insurance comparison site (google that for several different ones). There you'll put in the parameters of what you want covered (trip cancellation/delay; luggage delay/loss; medical/evacuation; whatever) and the connected costs. Typically you'll just cover whatever is a non-refundable cost you've paid.

I'm fairly certain DCL will sell you insurance, *GT rates or otherwise, but it's generally not a good idea to purchase through the cruiselines. 3rd party coverage is generally cheaper and covers more.

Try insure my trip to see. You put in your information and select what u would like such as medical etc. It gives you a comparison of different plans.

OP: if you are primarily concerned about the health of a family member who is not traveling with you, look for a policy where the pre-existing condition exclusion DOES NOT apply to those not traveling. -- Suzanne

When you call the insurance companies or the brokers that sell a bunch of insurances, tell them what you need. Your FIL isn't well (so I assume he has pre-existing conditions). You need HIS health to be a covered reason to cancel/change your trip, so don't buy an insurance product that doesn't work for your needs.
