Purchasing Resale and have a trip booked for Feb.

If I currently have a trip planned for February. I am purchasing a small point via resale that has some 2021 points banked into 2022. Does Member Services allow you to edit your reservation to take advantage of those points once the contract is transferred? I think the points being loaded will be cut close, so I'm guessing I will need to call once my contract is recorded.

Thats going to be your best option. Not sure if they will do that or not. Doesn't hurt to ask. Worst they can do is say no.

You need to close and actually have the contract and points recognized in your DVC account (which can take a week or more after closing) before possibly making any changes. If the points do not actually become available for use at 31 or more days from arrival, any change that might be allowed after that would be subject to the holding rules, i.e., any points taken out of the reservation (and replaced by those new banked ones) would be subject to the holding rules and thus would have to be used before the end of the use year by a reservation that is no more than 60 days out.

If the points are actually available for use before 30-days out and are the same resort and use year as you own, or a different resort but same use year if the original reservation was made 7-months or fewer out, then you could modify the reservation and replace existing points with new ones. You should be able to do that by an online modification since the system is supposed to use banked points first when doing a reservation or change. If the reservation was made in the 11-month window and the points are from a different resort, or made in either window but the points are from a different use year, you will not be able to use them to modify the reservation. You would instead have to cancel the reservation and rebook, or drop days in the original reservation and rebook the withdrawn days with the new points, which can succeed if, and only if, the room category and days you want are still separately available from your existing reservation.
