Purchasing gift cards with non-refundable onboard credit?

Is it possible to purchase Disney Gift Cards aboard the ships with non-refundable onboard credit? And then spend them later at Walt Disney World? This question has been asked on planDisney about a year ago, but without a real answer (tinyurl.com/28wwnah8).

I've never seen GC sold or even displayed on the ship.

A few years back I had OBC I would’ve lost if not used. I asked a CM in one of the shops if they had gift cards and they did. That was probably 3 years ago though. Things may have changed but it doesn’t hurt to ask.

no, I dont believe that they sell disney gift cards on the ships.

They used to sell GC in the shops, but if I remember correctly, there was a CM on one of the ships that commited a substantial amount of fraud related to the GCs and they stopped selling them onboard
