Purchasing DVC ticket offer (NOT AP) for guests/family

I know there has been some discussion about this in the "Two new ticket offers for DVC members" thread, but I figured I'd break away as I can't seem to find the clear answer or people's YMMV results.

My wife and I are planning on buying the Platinum Pass, but we will also be traveling with my adult brother (same surname, different address). I was hoping to purchase the 7 for 5 ticket for him.

What has your experience been purchasing DVC offer ticket for guests/family? Luck? Loopholes?

If they have a photo ID that shows the same address as you then you're OK, if not, they do not qualify.

I recently saw on the theme park board that several people have indicated the ability to buy these online and connect them to the Magic Band for their DVC guests . Though that’s not what the rule says, it appears there is no point at which an ID would actually be checked for these when purchased ahead and linked to MB like this. Not sure if this is true but it sounded like several people confirmed. Would be interested to know is this is incorrect info.

Some folk have stated that CM's allowed them to do this - purchasing the special tickets for others (not living at the same address) who were staying with the DVC member on the same reservation.

Thanks - I guess my understanding was that some folks have done this purchase online for their travel mates so no cast member approvals were required, but am not even sure if that is actually possible.

UT had, may still have a 7day hopper for a few dollars less than the DVC 'deal'. Those tix do NOT have the 6 month use window, but unless you plan to take them again there is not advantage to pay the extra.

Good to know - Tks. It's so easy to get caught up in these "deals". My sons insisted they needed to buy theirs through their work discount programs but when I compared those to things like UT there really wasn't any difference. Much ado about nothing in some cases and often not worth the time I have spent researching for a $15-20 difference in my view!

This is good to know if I need .
I will be bringing 3 of DD's friends to BLT for her sweet 16. I will getvAP for us but if I am looking for cheapest 6 day PH more ticket I can get for them.
I almost choked when I looked at current ticket prices.

By way of any update I called DVC today and asked if I could just buy them online and add them to MB's. She said yes. Then I said so then we can just enter park? And she said no, that they have to be verified and activated first at guest services . Not sure if that's correct but that is today's answer.

You need to show a blue member ID and photo ID to activate each pass.

Is this offer valid for resale buyers too? I noticed that the website didn't say this one was one of the direct membership benefits, although it did specifically say that on the AP offer.
