Purchasing APs with gift cards

I have never purchased APs before, and had hoped to purchase them with gift cards (will buy with Target Red Card 5%). According to the CM I spoke with today, the only way to do that is with a Disney vacation account. I am leery of this method based on the recent issues I have read about here. Just checking on others' experiences paying (or not) with multiple gift cards. Thanks for advice.

We have bought APs with gift cards on several occasions. The last time last year though, we were only allowed to use 2 forms of payment to buy them. I had tried booking online and wanted to use several gift cards but there was only an option for 2 methods of payment. I ended up having to call and ordered all 3 APs separately in order to use the gift cards - and I still could only use 2 forms of payment. On a couple of other occasions at both WDW and DL, we used multiple gift cards to pay for the APs, but that was in person with the CM scanning each gift card (and we had a lot of smaller ones so it was painfully time-consuming). I'd suggest buy the highest denomination you can in order to minimize the amount of cards you need for the passes. I have heard people on the boards here saying that depending on the CM you speak to, they might treat each gift card as a single form of payment and then you could use multiple, but you never know until you make the call.
Good luck!

I've had to either buy at park ( pre FP+) or go to local mouse store to buy.

Yes, you can pay with multiple gift cards over the phone to purchase your annual passes or regular park tickets. I just bought an annual pass 2 days ago using 8 Disney Gift Cards! You have to call this number 407 566 4985 and select option #5! Real easy!

It's sad that there are so many CMs giving wrong info.

I have a DVA account but have given up on trying to use it. Took me a full hour on the phone to buy DL APs and the only reason I was successful, is that I finally found records that I had done it previously.

I should not have to work so hard to give Disney thousands of dollars.

Oh well. Since our trip actually begins on the road on Friday, I decided not to mess around and just booked with my credit card. I would have been looking at 70 gift cards for 5 APs. After using 11 for a resort reservation, then discovering my toddler had used a rock to smash sand dollars all over the living room while I was on the phone, I decided it wasn't worth it.

You can always use your gift cards to pay for other stuff on vacation :) Unfortunately not to clean your house, but you can add some of the gift cards to your resort charges if you charge to the room. Or instead of charging to the room, use the gift cards!
