Purchasing AP online-will I have access to AP site?

I have a few questions about purchasing an AP online....

If I purchase my AP online prior to my upcoming trip, will I be able to access the AP site before I am able to "activate" my AP?

Does the AP site have the latest AP7 rates listed, or do I have to call the hotel reservation line in order to get this rate for my dates?

You have to call to get the rates, online you can only see what dates are eligible.

We bought ours online, but they needed the number on the card in order to create the membership online, so we waited.

I purchased my AP on-line last August and then I registered it on the AP site so that I could purchase the Halloween tickets.
According to everything I understand, you are not "activating" your AP when you register it on the AP site.
The AP is not considered "activated" until you enter Disneyland or Disney's California Adventure for the first time.
They replace the paper with a cardboard ticket which you have to take to the AP Centre before closing that day to get your picture taken so that they can give you your plastic AP with your picture on it!
The Hotel Availibility calendar gives you a good idea of what is not available but it is not that accurate.
I called the other day to make a reservation based on information that was on the calendar and there were days that were no longer available.
Also, if someone has cancelled, there may be availibility that is not showing on the calendar.
So if your only purpose in registering at the AP site is to look at the hotel availibility calendar, it might just be easier to call since it is not the accurate!
