We need to purchase our airline tickets for our trip, is there Cyber-Monday deals? Or any Black Friday Deals? The prices don't look to bad right now, just wondering if I should wait or just get them now? We are traveling August 2016, so I do have a bit of time. Usually I purchase tickets 3 months prier to travel.
TIA for your help

Generally, the airlines don't offer any Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals. It's hared to say if you should buy now or wait, but unless there's an unusual sale, you probably won't get any any big reduction for such a popular travel time.

Its the hardest question isn't it? I have no idea - but I will say that the Transportation board here on the Disboards has many helpful posters that travel a lot! Their usual response is to know the fares, buy what your comfortable paying, I think there are websites that help you know the average fares are, but I don't remember to be honest with you. I know for us $200 RT used to be what we paid, now its crept up to $250 RT for the Best Deal, but we usual end up getting closer to $300 RT per person.. so that's where I search.

If you have good credit, and don't mind a little work, you can get a pretty sweet deal by taking advantage of the Southwest Chase Card offers. They have both a Plus card and a Premier card. At the right times, you can find an offer for 50,000 points if you spend $2,000 in the first 3 months. You can sign up for both cards and get both bonuses - for a total of 104,000 points (you'll get a point for ever dollar spent on the card as well). If you spend another $6,000, you'll hit the 110,000 point level and get the free companion pass. If you're REALLY adventuresome, they also have a business card you can find and sign up for, with a similar offer. I've never been that courageous though. :D Only thing you have to do is pay the annual fee on both cards ($79 for the Plus, $99 for the premier). But hey, $180 for roundtrip airfare for your family is kinda a good deal. ;)

Nice thing is, you can close these accounts after you are done with them and then do it all again in two years.

Southwest is the largest carrier in our area, and what is great about them is that if you book and later the prices come down you can rebook ant get left over monies for travel credit within a year of when you first booked. This means that if it's a price we can live with and Southwest is our best deal we book right away with no risk. If you cancel or change too you have the same change policy, making it pretty low risk, especially if you fly pretty regularly and know you'll be able to use the travel funds.

I have that SW premier credit card too and am amazed at how quickly I accumulate freebie trips, a very fun perk. And when using points any changes or cancellations those point just go right back in your account -- pretty cool and risk free. Doing the math between this $99 card and the no fee card I was using regularly, the better perks not including the initial incentive made it worth it for me to get the fee card. And that initial 50,000 promotion was a decent incentive to bother to switch cards. // I haven't done what the previous poster said -- close and re-do and charging enough for the companion pass. Just saying it's a pretty decent card even if you just hold and use it. Never thought of doing what previous poster said. I tend to use just one credit card for the most part (paying off balance each month), but typically keep a second one too, just in case first would be lost or stolen or put on a credit card hold due to unusual purchase. Second is there just in case.

quagmire0 is a much for savvy user of credit cards than I am lol. Quagmire0 -- I'm impressed.

I've had the SW plus card for around 9 yrs.
There were no incentives back when I signed up or if there were, it was insignificant.
My annual fee is locked in at $59 so if your plan is to keep cancelling and reapplying, that's something to consider. AF will likely keep rising. Then again an extra $20 is a bargain to get 50,000 points.
