Purchasing a vacation home in Orlando

Does anyone on this board live there? We're looking at the options for a vacation home and a place for our castmember family member to live. Any fireworks!! Anyone have any recommendations on where the best "side" of Disney is to live. The safest? I remember seeing some post from a member who lives near the resort, but can't find them now.

Has anyone felt that they want to retire in the Orlando area and actually gone ahead and did it?

Try posting on the Orlando Resorts and Hotels board. There are a few owners who post there.

You might also want to post on the Community Board--a lot of people who live in the Orlando area post there (don't know if they are retired or not).
