Purchased Southwest tickets with RR points

Ok so we got our flights as soon as we were able but we have not flown in 9 years and are a little confused on how it all works now. Before we'd book through a TA and they send us tickets, which we just took to the counter when checking bags and then we'd get our boarding passes? Its been a long time I truly don't remember much, we only flew twice.

So anyways can anyone walk me through the whole tickets/boarding pass, getting to the airport stuff?

I do see our trip in our account and we have confirmation numbers, what do we take to the airport?

Any advice is welcome We are flying out of Flint, MI

Just print your boarding pass out 24 hours before the flight and bring that with you. Or have the boarding pass sent to your smart phone (that's what I do).

So when I do the 24 hour check in I will be able to print the boarding passes?

Then all I'd have to do is check the bags that need to be at the Southwest Counter?

We don't have smart phones lol we still have a landline.

It's very rare for the airlines to issue paper tickets anymore. You just have your confirmation # and your boarding pass. Some airlines even have electronic boarding passes, they scan your cell phone screen when you get on the plane.

Are you flying with children? You may want to consider purchasing the Early Bird Check In. This checks you in 36 hours before everyone else. This makes it much more possible that you will get boarding numbers together. If you dont want to purchase make sure you checkin exactly at the 24 hour mark or you might get a higher boarding number. We like having EBCI for the return trip so we dont have to think about when our 24 hr mark is on vacation.

Whether you checkin at 36 or 24 hours, you will not be able to view and print your BPs until 24 hour mark.

You will than get a letter and a number. So for example DH flew to Chicago and got A27. That means that 27 people get to board before him and any preboards. Then after all the As board, there may or may not be family boarding, the Bs and then Cs. The C people are those tht usually wind up with middle seats and separated.

It is just me and my husband so we've decided if we can't sit together its okay. It is just a 2 hour 40 minute nonstop flight. But I will be checking in at 24 hour mark just because I can lol

You can also check in online at the 24-hour mark, and choose to print your boarding passes out at the airport. That's what we do because our home printer is usually low on ink! lol

We check in, click the button to print out the boarding passes so we can get a look at them on the screen, but then exit out, not printing them at all. Then we just use the machines at the airport to print them out.
