Purchase timing

We're looking at pulling the trigger on DVC. Mrs. longrf01 pointed something out though - "If we buy now but there's no availability over the week of Thanksgiving when we normally go, then why not hold onto the cash and make the purchase in December in time for the 11 month window?"

So my questions are:

1. As a non-member, can I find out what availability for BCV looks like from 17 NOV to 25 NOV this year; and
2. When purchasing direct from DVC what is the time interval between purchase and ability to book; and
3. Are there any times of the year which are better to buy in than others?

When purchasing direct, often a guide can book your first vacation for you as part of the purchase deal. Call your guide and see if it is possible that s/he can book Thanksgiving week for you, though it may not be at your choice of resort. Guides can sometimes access room inventory not available to all DVC members, using the points retained by DVD or unsold inventory points...but this is usually most successful at resorts that are not fully sold, like BLT.

It just depends upon what is available.

I'm guessing that you intend to buy direct from Disney. If so you should contact your Guide and see what's available for purchase at BCV. You can also find out if they can make a Thanksgiving reservation for you.

As already mentioned, if you are considering a direct buy from Disney, they may be able to help in securing you the reservation you need. When I was first buying, I did this as the money I would have spent on my cash vacation was going to be used to purchase DVC and I needed to make sure that I could still go. We were traveling in August so not a really busy time, but, the guide checked and said I would have no problem getting the room I needed.

In terms of availability, there is not a way for a non-member to check but even if you did, it would do no good. DVC inventory changes constantly so something available right now, may not be available in 10 minutes.

There are really no set times better than others to buy DVC...incentives change...
