I have been researching purchasing a DVC. The prices vary significantly as expected with the resort and points available. There seems to be great deals to purchase from a resort , like Vero Beach. If I do this for the great price, can I basically not stay there but use my points to stay onsite in Disney World Resorts? What Resale brokers are recommended ? I don’t want to have a bad experience or get ripped off. Thanks a bunch .

Vero Beach is not a great deal.it has very high dues and leaves you at risk of not getting a unit at WDW if that is where you want to go. Initial cost is only one part of the cost of DVC.

Vero Beach points cannot be used at WDW until 7 months. Depending on travel dates, this may create challenges getting studios on campus.

If my intention were to always stay at WDW and I didn't care so much about where I ended up - ie, looking at stay at all the resorts over time - I'd buy the most economical WDW resort which is SSR. VB is offsite and has very high dues. Even though the purchase is less it will eventually be eroded by the high dues.

Buy VB if you want to stay at VB. Buy a WDW resort if that is where you want to stay most of the time.

VB can be booked usually on 7 months pretty easily. As others said, the dues will cost you significantly more. I once worked out over whole of life, VB would only cost a few thousand less than BLT, and of course BLT expires much later. The cost difference between the two was hardly anything until each ended. That's the compound nature of dues increases for you....

Dues are a much larger portion of your overall purchase price than the initial buy-in is. With only 25 years remaining at Vero Beach, your buy in will soon be $100 per point. That comes out to $4 per point per year. Dues are over $8 per point per year. This means you will end up spending over 2x your purchase prices on dues over the next 25 years.
The general rule is to buy where you would always be happy to stay, as all resorts can be booked up before 7 months out.
With that said, SSR frequently comes out as the best "deal" per point, followed by BLT. Vero Beach falls closer to the bottom of the list.

If you don't want to stay at VB but would prefer to stay at WDW, then buy one at WDW. It may look cheap at VB, but the dues are high, so it's probably worth it only if you want to stay there.

Also, buying a resale won't get you the DVC perks anymore.

It's currently very difficult to get DVC reservations anywhere in WDW at the last minute. Results will vary at 7 months.

As others have said, buy where you want to stay or where you wouldn't mind staying. Depending on the time of year you plan to stay, and the type of room, booking at 7 months has become much more difficult. At times, not available.
