Are annual passes for Universal/ IOA only available from Universal or can they be purchased anywhere at a discount? If they can be purchased at a discount, where is the best place to buy them?

FL resident? I think you have to be one but I've heard others on here say that out-of-staters have gotten them too.

I'm not a FL resident but there are APs for non residents. I'm just curious if there is any way to get a discount on buying them or if purchasing at full price from Universal is my only option.

The only APs that I've heard about that can be purchased at a discount are for FL residents only...the Power Pass to be exact. The FL resident Preferred AP is only $10.00 cheaper than for non-residents so we aren't saving a whole lot.

So then a NON-RESIDENT can infact get a US AP? My friend from NY was told no at the ticket booth right at the park.

I saw the link and am surprised its the same price as the FL resident rate. Disney charges like $100 more for non-ressie rate. I see non ressie's can do the monthly payment plan but Disney wont let non ressie's

The resident rate is $10.00 cheaper than the non-resident...hardly a big savings. Remember...Disney is new to this whole payment plan...at least in Florida...whereas Universal, SeaWorld and Busch Gardens have done it for years. I think Disney is waiting to see how this works and will make changes accordingly.

excuse me but i think you read part of the post wrong. Disney non resident AP's are not $10 more than a Fl resident AP. Check again.

Post # 7 from me says Disney charges $100 more for non res AP
This is what I thought you were talking about from your previous post:

I'm not arguing the point of the price difference between resident and non-resident APs for Disney...that's a well known fact that it's $100 more. I thought you were saying the Universal AP prices were the same.

no but you're forgiven. But the other thing that amazed me was US AP's are the same price for kids and adults. Disney's have kid AP's and adult AP's.

He probably wanted to purchase a Power Pass. Only FL residents can purchase the Power Pass which has blackout dates. But non-residents can purchase Preferred and Premier APs.

actually it was a she,not a he

OP, sometimes they offer APs at a special promotion. Unfortunately I've not seen any lately. We got ours about 3 years ago under the BOGO special. That was a great deal. We've have renewed every year since their renewal price is about 1/2 price. If there's another special, hopefully someone will post it.

BTW -- when did the power pass change to Florida residents only? Wow, We use to get those before buying our preferred passes a few years ago. We are not Florida residents. Last year I renewed our Preferred APs for only $109 and got 15 months. They expire this January 2011, so will be renewing again, but not such a great deal as last time.

That rule changed this year when Universal decided to raise ticket prices. They also made FL residents tickets only available to Fl residents to use. I don't think there any specials going on right now for renewals. Heck...I renewed in April and paid $150.00 (approx) and only for 12 months.
