I just wonder if any of you buy new clothes to go on vacation? I wanted to buy some more new tanks and shorts but I don't know if I should just save the money to spend while we are at Disney. I looked at pictures I took for many years, I always wear the same clothes, same swimming suit. I want to have a new look in the pictures but I want to save money too. I also wonder if I should buy new clothes for dd who is 3. Will it be a waste since she won't be able to wear them again when we come back. Thanks for your input.

What we do is by the summer stuff now, since in most places its on massive clearance and that way we have it for the end of the summer and for our winter vacations.

I only buy new clothes for vacation if it is something i need. I bought tevas because I needed sandals anyway. I bought some new capri's because I didn't have any summer pants. I do not go out and buy new clothes just because I am going on vacation.

Now I have been known to buy new clothes WHILE on vacation. Just bought two new Tee's while at Disneyland last week.

I only buy something if it's something I need anyway. It just so happens that I buy a new pair of tennis shoes each year, and it comes about a month before my WDW trip (gotta break them in).

Usually, the kids already have everything that they need. I usually buy them one princess swimsuit each summer. This year I really lucked out with DD's summer clothes. My youngest is wearing all of my oldest old clothes. My oldest is wearing clothes that a friend of minethat has twin girls 2 years older than my DD gives me and she works at gymboree :cool1: . Plus, I had a former student's Mom,who sells me her DD's old clothes & shoes.

I told DH I'm going to WDW in December just with the savings I've had from not having to buy our 2 DD's clothes (just undies & socks).

So, I answered No, I don't buy clothes specifically for vacation.

I buy a few things. Maybe a new pair of shorts or a couple of tops but I dont buy a whole new wardrobe.

I buy stuff if I do need it and try to be as ecomonically savvy as possible.

I answered maybe b/c you know your wardrobe and should decide for yourself. It isn't a black and white type answer for me.

I do, even though my closets are packed. I know, it's frivolous, but it makes me feel good. It was bad enough when I just bought for me, but now I have to make sure my two little boys are all duded up, too. :rolleyes1

I don't know whether to vote "no" or "maybe". I would not buy clothes soley because we were going on vacation. If we needed something however, the vacation might be the motivating factor to get me out there getting it. I have bought new clothes for cruises we've been on but that's mostly because we "needed" a new dressy outfit or something. We might not have needed it right then but the cruise motivated us to get it right then. See what I mean? I think I'll vote maybe.

it depends on what we need. This year I bought myself all new clothes for vacation only because I found shorts and shirts I just loved on sale at Target right before we left. I wasn't happy with what I was taking, but because I found things I loved, I went ahead and bought the new outfits.

I usually will buy everyone new socks for the trip, but other than that, we just wear what we have.

I always buy new Disney t-shirts, a Disney sweatshirt, and a "special" outfit for each trip for everyone going. For our upcoming NOv/Dec trip, I bought matching Disney Tiki Themed outfits for myself and DD, 8. Hers is a sun dress and mine is a matching sarong-style skirt. Her "special" is a Snow White outfit. I didn't think she'd wear a costume this year because of her age, but she said as long as it was Snow White she would. I pick up other items, a stuffy for each kid, MM mittens, Disney wallets, etc. as well to wrap and leave under the pillow each night. BTW, I made all my purchases from DisneyDIrect and DisneyDeals so the price is sooooo right :sunny: ! Brenda

I did buy some new things needed and not. I needed shorts and tees. DS didnt need as much as he got! I started buying at the end of season sales last year. Guss that one advantage to planning WAY ahead ;)

I buy a few pieces but not much. I prefer to wear clothes that I love and am intimate with to WDW because comfort and style are important to me. I also never try to buy new shoes...... shoes need to be extremely comfortable before attempting a WDW day. I also require washing my clothes each day, so I tend to wear similar items............ my photos look like we spent one long day at WDW! :teeth:

We go through bathing suits like crazy so I'll usually pick a few up if I can find them on sale.

We don't do the buying the whole new wardrobe thing, but if I find something that's a good price that'll work in Disney and we need it, then yeah, I'll save it for Disney.

I won't buy something that'll only work in Disney, though, it's just a waste...

I bought a few things before our trip. Nothing really major, and pretty much all things that we needed. If you're not feeling good about having the same exact clothes/swimsuit for years, go ahead and treat yourself to a few things.::yes::
It definitely sounds like you are "overdue" to get a few new things, and there are alot of clearances going on now, so you'd be "saving" money ;)

I buy mainly tops...I figure shorts are less noticable anyway. I wait until the end of the season (for instance I just bought my DD 2 t-shirts at Target and paid $1.12 a piece) and buy when everything is marked down. I think that's one more advantage to our October trip. We usually need new shoes anyway...it seems we are timing that where we only buy them about a month before vacation. My daughters didn't have a swimsuit this year and we got a pool, so I found them each 3 suits...I think that is plenty for vacation. Again, bought most of them on clearance (Disney Store, of course!) I also hit the local rummage sales on the final day (usually $1 or $2 per bag). That's where I find most of the shorts for my girls', then I can just supplement their wardrobe with new shirts! I am in need of a new bathing suit, but still haven't been able to find one that I like for a decent price, I am still waiting on that!

we usually all get new socks and undies!!!! and t-shirts to wear, and make sure we all have good shoes. that's about it. :sunny:

I buy new underwear, too - but I take my old stuff with me on vacation. Instead of bringing it home, I just throw it out after wearing it. Then I have nice new stuff to wear when I get home and extra room in the suticase.

I don't know why it is, but dirty clothes always take up more room in the suitcase than they did when they were clean! :teeth:

Best wishes-

It depends. :> We don't buy clothes specifically for vacation, but I do sometimes buy clothes with vacation in mind. For example - I do a lot of hiking, and we're taking a hiking vacation this fall. So I'm keeping my eye out for trail pants and shirts. I've just been hiking in my normal tshirtrs and shorts, but for mountain hiking I'd like something with better performance characteristics. Of course, I'll wear them to disney too. Light blocking, sweat wicking, fast drying, and they pack tiny. :) Vacation is just my excuse, not the real reason.

dawn *bounce*

We have been going in Sept and Oct so the summer clothes are always a great deal buy July and August. I have bought my 4 kids matching t-shirst from the DS for $3/each every year! So for $12/day my kids match and look so cool! I have bought my husband some mickey shirts too for $5 each. I am less inclined to buy myself stuff just because :confused3 . I have also got some caps, fans, flip flops, etc...just for the trip. My kids wear everything all year long and have definitely got my monies worth!

I always buy new underwear when we go on vacation. I have no idea why but I do
