Pulling back from so much time in HS........especially when we don't have park hoppers

For now we skip it, currently we'd rather go to Universal than HS. If we go to a park we always will be there the whole day. But if we get really bored (and tired of the other parks) we still might go there

We're not a fan of hoppers but our next trip is super short. I'm thinking of doing 2-day hoppers in lieu of 3-day nonhopper.

We would RD HS to do Jedi, TSM, Star tours and Indy (DS is a star wars fan and DH loves Indy) and then hop over to Epcot for TT FP (plus 2 others) and snacks and dinner.

Honestly, there was very little there that we enjoyed in 2012, and now some of those things are gone. It's hard for me to imagine ever going back unless somehow we're at WDW for 2 full weeks (which we have no plans to do).

We will probably do a half day in the morning and return one evening for Fantasmic. We generally have hoppers and loner stays.

We are just skipping it all together.

Will do the same. Last trip in April I did skip it. IMO the best things they have are Fantasmic and the Osbourne Lights at XMAS.

I'm skipping DHS on my next trip.

I could squeeze in half a day but decided to plan on the extra time at the Food and Wine Festival instead.

I wouldn't skip it, as others have said you could do half day either morning or night and do DTD (which I skip). I have an AP and find myself going to HS just about every day throughout my trip. It and Epcot are my favorite parks but I tend to not be ride heavy. I like just going and walking around and soaking in the place. I'm never in a hurry when I go there, I walk slow and read the windows, wander around the back streets and just enjoy not being in a hurry. Mind you, I ride ToT at least twice every time I'm in the park and actually enjoy GMR. I can take or leave TSMM and can't do RNRc cause it hurts my neck. Don't do Star Tours, it makes me sick and I'm not a fan of Star Wars anyway.

I was curious how others were dealing with the situation at HS going forward. Until there's really more than 4 attractions to focus on, my wife and I are pulling back on anything more than 1/2 days at HS. When we don't have hoppers we may even reduce that.

We really like TSMM, RnRC, and Tower of Terror.........and Star Tours can be fun, always like the street performers..........FANTASMIC is cool but its not an every visit thing for us. Beyond that there isn't that much left. Closing Animation Station really bummed us out............so enjoyed the drawing class.

What are others doing with regards to HS until..........Star Wars and Toy Story are on site?

Our family can easily fill an entire day at HS; there is much more to do than only 4 things. But since you say you only care to focus on four things, just do those four and leave to go back to your resort or DTD.

I was going to just do a half day at HS for my upcoming November trip, but then with all the changes taking place, and things closing, I decided to do a full day, but not sure if I will be there right at rope drop or not. Once I put in all the things I was interested in doing into Touring Plans, it was pretty much a full day, and I don't even ride ToT or RnR. I was going to skip B&tB and VotLM this time, but decided not to, since who knows if they'll be sticking around. This will be my first park day. So, I may sleep in a bit and get there around 10 am if I need to. This is my outline of what I'm thinking, so far:

I've never seen the Osborne Lights, so that is a must do.

ETA: I do not have park hoppers, and if I did, I probably would have been swayed to only do a half day.

I can't go to WDW and miss Star Tours or ToT. Luckily we do have hoppers, but for the most part we like to stop look around and see if there are things we never noticed before. I do understand it being a tough decision for those w/o hoppers or on a short trip. Can't wait until all the upgrades and new attractions are done.

We will be going for two full days on our Oct/Nov trip. We don't do rope drop and have Disney Junior at HW&V booked one day and Minnies Holiday and Dine booked on the other. I think there is still plenty to do and if after the first day we don't feel like there is much to do then we will have a relaxing morning and just go in for our meal/Osbourne lights.

If you're ok with using a park ticket for a possible half day then do it. Like others have said it's a good day to relax at the pool for a mid-day break, or even head to DTD for shopping in the afternoon/evening. There's also 4 mini golf courses on property that are fun that you could do for part of the day when you take a break from DHS.
No way would I "waste" a full park day on HS (given I've gone many times before)............. If you have a hopper ticket.........its seems ok to me..........then you go 1/2 day at HS.........back to the resort for a nap..............evening in Epcot for dinner and Illuminations!!! :)

I plan to be there next Thurs. We are planning a whole day...RnRC multiple times, TSMM, ToT, Beauty, LM, Indy, Star Tours, Muppets, GMR. We'll do as much as we can as many times as we can since things will be drastically different next time. We normally make it a day and a half there, but I think we can easily fill a whole day this week.

Oh, please.
We go several times a year to WDW & HS is my second favorite park.
Never cared to do American Idol so won't miss that. Did Back Lot Tour once and while it was ok I won't really miss it. Animation Academy, once.
There is plenty else there to do. Lots of shows and 3 of the major attractions in all of WDW are there. And Star Tours is one of my all time favorites so we do it over & over.
Looking forward to Toy Story Land, not really a Star Wars fan but I'm sure that will be something to look forward to also.

We stopped going to DHS over 10 years ago. We don't get park hoppers and can't justify the cost of a park ticket for that park.

DH and I both love DHS and wouldn't skip it even without hoppers. As it is, we plan to hop and usually end up staying there all day. I'm sad about the Animation Academy in particular and will miss the Backlot Toue but there is still more than enough to keep us busy. DH will happily ride RnR six or seven times in a day (I'm good with one). We love TSMM, the Muppets, GMR, Star Tours, and Indy. Add in cupcakes at Starring Rolls and a long lunch at any of the sit-downs and we are happy! A fairly leisurely day in the middle of a WDW trip is a good thing for us.

We have a Fantasmic mama melrose ADR at 3:50. We were going to spend a full day but after reading this thread I'm thinking maybe we should just book FP for after lunch and make it a half day? Shows aren't a priority except Fantasmic and we really only want to ride ToT, RnRC and maybe TSMM.

We have a full day planned there. Its actually the day I am most worried about fitting everything in since the shows have specific times. We are trying to do TOT, RNRC, TSMM, IJ, GMR, Star Tours, Fantasmic, Muppets, LMA, Frozen, Osborne lights, and meeting characters.

By the way, I don't see a parade listed for HS. Do they seriously no longer have a parade?
Only the MK has a parade which I find sad. Parades and entertainment is what set Disney apart from other theme parks IMO. I always said there's no parade like a Disney parade. Now AK's parade is gone and HS.:sad2: Add to that all the great entertainment lost at EPCOT :sad1: If we can't get on a lot of rides anymore I feel like we need the entertainment to keep the value there. Now a really great parade is the Paint the Night at DL.:thumbsup2

After going through the young child phase where DHS was barely a 1/2 day park for TSMM, Disney Jr, Mupets and ?

It's now great to visit DHS 2x for RnR and ToT (on longer trips)

Now... If RnR was closed for some crazy reason, I might actually have to make up for that with a Universal day.
