Pulled over 3 times in a week

That is crazy.

I live in VA and our tags always expire at the end of the month. That would want me to make a big copy of the tag paper and put it somewhere in my back window or make a bumper sticker out of it just so the cop wouldn't be wasting my time or his thinking it had expired.

There is something flawed somewhere if for whatever reason they like to run it and zips out expired but the OP has her paper saying it expires on such and such date.
Well the left turns only added for the extra time for them to be behind me. They never told me I was doing any thing else wrong, and the first thing was always "Did you know your registration expired?" And it's not even expired like last month, they're telling me it expired 2/20/11, like I never even had the tags for this year.

OOps, I am a dork, my needle is still stuck like we are in 2011,lol. However, here is odd question: Do you have those little stickers on your plates? Also you know sometimes the DMV is well kooky, take example this:

A few years ago, they messed up on my personalized plates, so in the interim I had regular plates. I had them for a few weeks, turned them back in when my corrected vanity plates came back.

Over a year later, I get a notice in my name from Arlington Va(I live no where near there, nor have i ever been there) saying I owe them for a parking ticket that my car was parked on such and such date-by this date I had my vanity plates and it wasn't my car.

So I call Arlington and I"m like I did have those plates for a mili second however, here is what I have now, you can check with the DMV, I have never been there, my car has never been there(as I am the only driver of my car). I said my car is this make, model, color it had 2 big racing stripes down the middle, lol.

Not the same car that the woman had for her description. She cancelled it for me and said sometimes the DMV re issues the plates and things get mixed up, so maybe those plates you had were someone's before and the DMV didn't put it all the way and it still shows expired.

And before reading your thread, I thought everyone in the US had tags that would expire at the end of the month, but today, my aunt who lives in Florida was saying hers was about to expire next week, she said they expire on your birthday instead of the end of the month.

Sandra, have you checked your plates to make sure the stickers are still there? People steal the stickers and put them on their cars sometimes so make sure yours is still there. I find it highly unusual that they would even run your plates unless they are looking for your type of car for some reason. If the 2012 sticker is on the plate they shouldn't even be LOOKING any farther than that until (as LuvBunnies said) sometimes in April. If the sticker is gone that might be why they are running your plates, or if they are looking for your type of car otherwise there is zero reason for them to do that, unless you've done something else illegal, such as speeding or an illegal left turn......but then they would tell you that and you'd probably get a ticket.

I was thinking the same thing after I wrote my post. The cops where I live wouldn't give a car a second look unless they were smack dab in back of it to see if the sticker was either gone or the old one was still on there.

But then again, I would hope the cop would say," The sticker is gone, or last year's sticker is still very visible on there" and that's what they saw.

I swear that the cops around here - local, state and sheriff - don't EVER look for expired plates. I have this quirk with plates and I am looking at everybodies ALL THE TIME. I can't tell you the number of plates I see each and every day that are expired and/or are illegally displaying the stickers. The worst one, I just saw 2 weeks ago, it still has the original issue date showing in the upper ride hand side. We first got this style of plates back in...

2008

The car is missing 4 years worth of experation stickers. I was amazed. And no, it wasn't stuck some where else on the plate. They flat out did not have the current year sticker on the plate. If I was a cop, they would have been pulled over, ticketed and the car impounded until they could get the thing plated correctly.

Most of the cars that I see are either expired by a few weeks or months. Rarely do I see cars with plates more than a year expired. So when I saw that one, I had to point it out to DH. He was shocked that they hadn't been pulled over in 3+ years.

Was the car in question purchased used from a private seller? You need to make an appointment at the local dmv and get it straightened out. You have moved several times over the past year or two so there is lots of chance if the paperwork was not completed correctly that the dmv has not been able to contact you for further info. Remember, the dmv is closed this coming monday.

The tags say FEB 2012, nothings missing, nothing looks wrong with the tag.

As far as moving, the car is in my boyfriend's name, and we've only just moved to a new address (less than a month). His ID card/info still shows his mother's address. The paperwork is still for his mother's address. As to why we have to go to the DMV to get the registration done, to get the address update.

So any information would have been received.

The only other thing wrong, is the back taillight is broken, and we're using that red tape stuff. It was a minor bump with another car in a parking lot. An old lady driving a huge F150 decided to park in the tiny spot next to my car just before I pulled out. She couldn't even get out of her car with me there. I pulled out slowly to try and see around the truck, and I thought I was in the clear. Well a car on the opposite side, pulling out in the opposite direction couldn't see me behind the truck. It was an SUV and something on their back end hit the tail light. It only broke a piece about the size of my fist.
