Pull down beds?

In the cat 11, there is a queen bed (or two twins), a single convertible sofa and a pull down bed? Where does that bed pull down from??? Is the pull down a single, too? Or is it a double that pulls down over the sofa? Anyone have any pics of this?

Also, can we request a queen instead of two twins? We have a 4 and 7 year old and my 4 year old will most likely ask for me to sleep with her.

Thanks for any info!

Hi, the bed pulls down from the ceiling. The stateroom does this while you are dining, and then puts it away in the morning. It is only a twin bed.

Yes, you can request that you have a queen for the main bed, or have it separated..Once again, your stateroom attendant will do this gladly for you, if it has not already been done..

dcltribute.com
and castawayclub dot com, both have the pictures, I believe...For the second one, just fix it up a bit, we are not allowed to post that link...

Hope that helped.. :goodvibes

Thanks so much. Obviously I have never cruised before!

So two can sleep on the queen (or if pulled apart as a twin) then a third on the sofa and the fourth on the pull down...

Oh most definitely two..My DD somehow makes her way (most nights) and the three of us are on the couch, it is quite big...I think it seems like two full size, rather than twin. But, no problem for at least two comfortably there.....

WE are four, ds on the top bunk, and there is more than enough room for us.. :earsboy:

Anyone ever have a problem with a child falling from the top bunk? From what I remember of the picture I've seen, the railing isn't all the way across, and it's not very high.

The rail is very small and it doesn't come across the top part of the bed. I wouldn't let my 5 1/2 year old sleep there, especially since her friend just fell out of a bunk bed (yes it had a rail but in her sleep she wiggled around it) and broke her shoulder!.

My husband and I have a 4 & 6 yr old. We're booked in a CAT 11 with the top bunk. Is there an alternative to using the bunk? Is there room for two on the bottom bed or three in the queen? Can you put the mattress from the bunk on the floor?

I have read here, where some have put the mattress on the floor. Very good idea, if you ask me.. :) With the ages of your childen, I would certainly think they would both fit in the lower bunk. Three is also fine in the queen, as there are very few mornings where I do not wake up with DD in ours..

Here is a photo for our Cat 4 showing the bar which is not very big.... looks like there is room for mattress to lay on floor.

I think I'll go for the mattress on the floor, but I'll have to let them know to put it down there without my sons seeing the bunk bed in the ceiling. They would definitely want to sleep up there, but that railing looks almost worthless. Surprising to me they don't have something better.

My DS8 has slept in the drop down bed twice now with no problem. The first time when he was 6 - and he does move around alot when he sleeps. I think the railing is sufficient even though it doesn't look to be very tall.

I read somewhere that you can ask for a bed rail for the bunk, if that would make you feel more comfortable. :)

Hmmmm....I'd sure like to know if this is true. My DD move ALL over the place in the bed and I was concerned about it. Anyone else know about this??

Yes we did this also.......It's true... :)

Hi!

When you say "bedrail" is that something more than what is already on the pull-down bunk? The bedrail they put on the pull-down couch was much more like what my DS has at home, it seemed to cover a lot more of the "bed". We're traveling with my DS (5) next year, and he is booked in with his auntie in the room next door and he's so excited to be "sleeping with Auntie" -- I have to tease her about that one, sounds really awful when he puts it that way! ;) But, you know how it goes, we'll see where he really wants to sleep the first night. (I wouldn't be surprised if it really is in Auntie's room, but one never knows with him.) If he ends up in our room, I'm sure he'd want that pull-down bunk, but he is a mover and groover during the night -- he often does 180s in bed.

Yes, from what I understand, you can ask for a bed rail from your room steward. I'm picturing it to be something like I used on my own kid's bed at home, when they first moved from their crib to their "big kid bed." Something like 12 inches wide and 42 inches long.

Disney Fan -- I really enjoyed looking at your photos. I am leaving on Tuesday for the land/sea package and they got me very excited!!!

One question, though, where is your luggage????? I notice that you have family of five. How much luggage did you bring? I am really having trouble packing lightly. I think I am going to need one suitcase just for the families shoes!!!!!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!

There was plenty of room under the bed for our suitcases and the one that didn't fit under there fit just fine in the closet.
