Publix or Super Target?

How long has that Target across the street from the Publix been there? We went to that Publix in '07 to get baby supplies and they did not have everything we needed, so we trekked back into Kissimmee to the Target that's on the curve of 192. Don't remember it being across the street.

I wasn't here in '07, but I am pretty sure it wasn't there yet when we went in '08. I think it was new when we went in '10, but it could have been there in '09.

Also--as you leave AK (not AKV), there is a little exit off to the right where the rest of us go left back into the resort. This exit will dump you off on 192, turn right. It is not marked at all. Totally secret little way in and out.

Thanks! I love these little shortcuts.

it's called Sherbeth Road.

We went to Super Target earlier in the week and then Publix later on thinking it would have better selection and found it about the same. and like others I liked the "One stop shopping of Target"

For some reason that Target right by AKL is NEVER busy. I've been in there on a Sat afternoon and the cashiers were desperate for someone to come to their til. I found the Publix cramped.

Same here! We stopped off at the Target and it wasn't busy at all. Nice clean store with more selection than we ever needed. We're definitely going to be using that store more often when we're down. So easy to find, plus I didn't have a clue that there were so many dining options that close to AKV. Being an "on-site" kind of family it's amazing what you find beyond the gates. :)

Usually we end up at the Target unless we hit the Walmart by the outlet mall. But it seems we usually need somthing that is more target or walmart related (not groceries) so we hit one of those to have just one stop for both.

I am a big fan of Publix and Target, shop at both frequently at home, but for Disney trips we usually go to the Super Target because we often need a few things besides groceries. Publix has a lot of BOGO specials that work well when you can stock up, but in general Target's prices on things like cereal and snacks will be better unless those items happen to be on sale at Publix. Now if we need produce and deli items we also stop by Publix. I avoid shopping at Walmart whenever I can, at home or on vacation.

We went to the Super Target on 192 last week and it was not super busy, but busier than I have seen in the past. I think people are starting to figure out it exists.

the one he is talking about is along US 192 - the publix and target are across the street from each other.

Yep! And there's an Olive Garden too...we ate there the second night of our trip, and in retrospect, it's the first time we ever felt OG was cheap! :rotfl:

Note: don't follow your GPS blindly like DH did. He was routed onto a toll road to get to that Publix (was clueless that late evening, still doesn't know how he was routed that way) and had NO cash and it was too late for the tolls to be manned...so we got to experience the little envelopes to send in the toll. :)

Publix---employee owned---and one of the top grocers in the country.

And thank goodness they treat women better now, after the class action lawsuit. My mom worked there temporarily just before the timeframe of the class action and got to experience all the sexism in all its dubious glory....

If they were still treating women the same as they were in the late '80s early '90s I wouldn't have shopped there, but they are nice now so I did, and I highly recommend it!

We do the one stop shopping thing at Super Target!

Although really I don't think you could go wrong either way. It's just that for us we always need something that Target has besides the groceries.

I like Publix -- love the Boar's Head deli items and the fancy bakery desserts. I have ordered holiday meals from the deli several times. Their prices are about what I pay here in CT, so don't mind that.

Another tip a bit off-topic. We call in an order to Olive Garden for salad and breadsticks, and get some sauce. We cook our own pasta, and have a ton of food for about $30, with no wait! This is great with the teenaged nephews and their hungry appetites.

it's called Sherbeth Road.

and the road you turn off is Black Lake.

out of AKL you turn right - then once you are pass both Hotels (one is a timeshare really) - turn right again - you will end up at a traffic light turn right - the next traffic light is Publix (right) and Target (left).

We like the Publix on 192. It is actually a very short drive from the Animal Kingdom villas. It has been open for a while now, but is a relatively newer store.

It's Publix for us too! It's a pretty easy drive and so worth saving the $$.

We were there in the fall of 09 and I think it was pretty new. There's also a Chik Fil A on that stretch :) I've clocked it I think it's about 7 min from AKL depending on the traffic lights.
