Normally we stay at Orange Lakes CC when we are down, but this time we're staying at the Fountains, on S. I-Drive.

Publix is our only choice for groceries, but not all of them have french-style cheesecake at their bakeries.

Anyone know if any of the Publix stores in that area have french-style cheescake?

It MUST be french-style ... NY cheesecake won't do..!

Sounds yummy!

But I think you'd get a more accurate answer if you looked up the store location near where you're staying, getting their phone number and calling them direct.

Here's a link to their Store Locator http://store.publix.com/publix/

Good luck!

Thanks, ClanHarrison, but I tried that last year and eventually was connected to someone in the bakery department that didn't know the difference between French-Style and NY-Style cheesecake.

It may have been a language-barrier thing, but how simple would it have been to just look in the case..?

I can only speculate that I was talking to someone cleaning up, and didn't have a clue ... :confused3

I'll continue to hold out hope that someone visits the Publix on Vineland, just off S. I-Drive, before we go on 8/15, and sees "French-Style Cheesecake" printed on one of the cheesecakes in the case..!
:worship:

There is a new Publix that has a lot of variety of things at the bakery on Universal Boulevard near Vista Cay and the Convention Center. It's around the 9900 block on Universal. You may try them, also, as this won't be far from you, less than a mile off of International Drive. This is our favorite Publix!

I was in a Fl publix just last weekend and browsing the desserts with hubby. I don't recall seeing any French style cheesecake, I saw New York Style printed on the label on the whole ones they were selling. Maybe they will have some for your visit, if not (even though I know you proabably have your mouth set on it) there were other tantalizing goodies. The different doughnut varieties on case display in particular were moist and yummy! :lovestruc

It has been my experience that my local Publix (north of Orlando) only has French style cheesecake occasionally, not all the time. Publix bakeries accept special orders. You may want to call the Publix location of your choice and place a special order for a French style cheesecake.

The Publix that is way out on 192, near 27, always had 2 or 3 French-Style cheesecakes in their case (I got a total of 4 over the two weeks we were there last year). We used the Publix right next to Orange Lake for our groceries, but that extra 5 mile drive was worth it for me for the cheesecake.

I can only hope at this point that someone will visit the Publix on Vineland, next to The Fountains, and report that they have them there.

13 days, and counting ...
