While at the Magic Kingdom I will need to do a little bit of work throughout the day. I will need access to a computer and the internet for about 20 minutes once or twice a day. Does anyone know if there are public computers available anywhere in the Magic Kingdom?
Thanks!

I have never seen a public computer at disney. I'm sure there is wifi if you can bring a laptop.

There is a business center at the Contemporary (a short walk from the MK) but it's not free.

No wifi in the parks and very little at the resorts and nothing free. You would have to have some sort of Cellular device.

First of all, WELCOME to the DISboards!

One of the few things (most) people DISlike about WDW is the dearth of wireless connectivity anywhere but the resorts.

If you have a netbook with 3G capability, you might be able to get some work done, but you'll have to bring yer own -- there's no "Kinko's" on Main Street U.S.A.

Here's a link to business centers and their offerings at WDW:

If you are required to work during your vacation time, and your employer has not furnished you with a laptop computer and internet access, or smart phone, does your employer plan to pick up these charges you will be incurring once or twice a day? These charges, and your time spent on work on behalf of your employer, can have serious negative impact on your vacation. :sad1:

Thanks for the link. No, my employer is not going to reimburse me, but I will limit my computer time to just completing what is absolutely necessary. I have not been to Disney since I was a kid and I’m not sure how to work this. Is the main entrance of the Magic Kingdom the only way in and out? Will my ticket get me in and out as many times as I need to leave and enter? I guess I could hop on a bus to get to one of the hotels with a business center, right?

Thanks so much for your responses, Everyone. I’m embarrassed to be so clueless.

Dont be embarrassed. Everyone has questions. Not many resorts have business centers, so what your asking is going to be a bit problematic. For even 10 minutes of work you will be gone from the parks for over an hour at least. If your kids are little, your best bet imho would be to take the whole group back to the resort for nap time and work while they sleep. You have to understand the resorts and the parks are not "right" next door. It is at least a ten minute walk from MK to the Contemporary (the closet resort to any park) maybe longer if you count starting out in the park. and then you have to get to the business center which is no longer in the main building after you get to the contemporary.

Yes, one way in and out for guests & you may come and go as you please as often as needed. Monorail or walking path will take you to the Contemporary

Yes, one way in and out. Taking a bus will take a lot of time. The easiest will be to take the monorail from MK to the Contemporary and back. You may enter and leave the park as many times as you like in a single day.

And I thought my DH was the only one who needed a computer in the park. If this happens to you on all your vacations, as it does to us, you should look into a virgin mobile mifi. We carry a macbook air with us in the park so he can work. It's not ideal, but it's better than staying home.

The cost to use the Computers at the Contemporary Business Center is $10.00 for every 15 minutes you are online. Plus over there it's 1st come 1st serve, so if they are all taken you need to wait and the hours they are open is from 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM.

Are you visiting other Parks besides the MK?

At Epcot there are hotels outside the International Gateway that should have the business centers. From DHS its a a little bit more of a walk but there is nothing near AK, you would have to take a bus somewhere.

If you have a laptop it may be easier and maybe only a little bit more expensive to get a pay as you go broadband adapter like this.

It is $80 and you have to buy air time but you are going to have to spend money renting those business center computers anyway. Hopefully someone can give a price per hour for what its going to cost at one of these business centers.

If its like $20 an hour its may only cost a little bit more for the broadband card but save you hours of vacation time.

I had to do work while in Disney and I had my laptop but I was lucky that my son was playing ball at Wide World of Sports. They seem to have free WIFI.

On afternoon after he was finished playing ball. I drove to Wide World of Sports and drove as close to the ball fields as I could get and I was able to use the WIFI to send an email blast for work.

I hope this info. helps.

There is only one way in and out of Magic Kingdom. Once outside the gate, you can turn left and walk to the Contemporary hotel. It's a 10 min. walk. You can choose to take the Monorail to the Contemporary. You could also stay on the Monorail and get off at the Grand Floridian. MK, Contemporary, TTC, Polynesian and Grand Floridian are on the same Monorail route.

If you are at Epcot you can walk to either the Boardwalk or Yacht Club business center. For DHS you can also walk to Boardwalk or Yacht Club. At AK you would have to take a bus to one of the above resorts or Coronado Springs Resort.

You can enter and exit the same park all day as many times as you want. You don't need a hand stamp. If you exit one park and want to enter another park on the same day you have to buy a Park Hopper option for your ticket.

It's a shame you don't have a smart phone to take with you. This could keep you inside the park to do your contact with your employer. Anything else you choose to do will take you 1 to 2 hours, when you include walking to park exit, getting to business center, then returning to park.

Your other alternative is to bring your laptop, and you could store it in a locker so you don't have to carry it around.

There is free Wi-Fi at MK, Epcot, DHS (but not AK), and at DTD. If you want I can post the locations (got it off these boards).

But there is no INTENTIONAL-PROVIDED-FOR-GUESTS Wi-Fi in the parks. Innoventions is the only place in the parks that I know it's been repeatedly mentioned to exist. The post I saw re: MK basically mentioned some tiny area near the Firehall or something. Not really conducive to getting anything done for work. And you could show up there and find there is none. There was free WiFi in the Beach Club lobby for quite a while - over a year, probably - unannounced but reported here. But now it's gone.

Unless you have personally been to those locations (I have seen the same list) and connected I would not trust them.

The list is just places where someone may have found an open wi fi signal at one time but its never been confirmed that these are reliable connections.

This is one of those situations that the OP needs to know exactly how they are going to connect.

If you work is something that requires access to a pc often even when on vacation you may want to look into investing in a tablet with cellular connection (not sketchy wi fi service) and/or a smart phone. Alot can be done via phones and most of the bigger companies have great cellular coverage in WDW.
